A question we are often asked is: When is the best time to visit the Islands? The answer depends on your interests as the Galapagos Islands are ideal to visit any month of the year. There are differences in what you can see and do depending on the month you visit. Weather and sea temperatures vary, so if you prefer snorkelling without a wetsuit, then it is best to travel from February to April when the sea water temperatures are slightly warmer. If your interest is more walking, hiking and exploring ashore, the slightly cooler months from July to October are a good option. Most species can be seen year round including many small bird species, penguins, sea lions, marine and land Iguanas, the hawk, ’s finches, giant tortoises, flamingoes, red, blue and bo***es, flightless cormorants, magnificent and great frigate birds, rays, orca whales, dolphins, s***m whales, sharks, whale sharks and turtles.

HAPPY EASTER - the most inspiring Easter celebrations in Latin America are in Antiqua, Guatemala where colourful holy week processions depict scenes of the passion of christ. Local people show their devotion by laying down decorative coverings (known as alfombra - see our picture below) on the streets for the processions to walk over. Good Friday features the re-enactment of the crucifixion of christ, with the climax on Easter Sunday when joyful processions celebrate the resurrection of christ. Our local guides take Veloso Tours guests to the best viewing points to see the processions on the cobbled streets covered in elaborate alfombra decorations made from coloured sawdust, pine needles and flowers.
