Seafarer Cruises The Yacht & Small Ship Cruise Specialists

We at Seafarer are widely recognised as leading specialists

We at Seafarer are widely recognised as leading specialists in yachting holidays and small ship cruises. We have been trading since 1995 and have accumulated a wealth of experience in this specialised field, with detailed knowledge of the cruise vessels and mega yachts we feature as well as the destinations visited. We can therefore give you the best guidance and advise on choosing the right cruise holiday for you. Many of the holidays we feature are exclusive to Seafarer and we are the UK general sales agents for some of the leading specialist cruise operators featured, such as Variety Cruises and Dream Yacht Catamaran Cruises. All our cruises are carefully selected for their superb and often unique itineraries which are very much focussed on really discovering these wonderful destinations, but also for their friendly ambience and informality, which we consider to be key elements of our cruises. We remain an independent company committed to providing a personal, high quality service to our loyal clientele, through our small experienced team of knowledgeable consultants who have experienced many of the cruise holidays we promote. During office hours, you will always be speaking to a person and never through automated call handling.

Some cruise ships carry fewer guests than a wedding.

That surprises most people, and it's one of a handful of things we find ourselves explaining again and again. So we're starting a new series, sharing what we've picked up from helping people plan their time at sea.

First up, a few basics that rarely make it into the brochures: ships come in every size, you only unpack once, and the price often covers far more than it first appears.

Which of these surprised you most?

Save this for later, and follow along for the next instalment.

How far away would you go for a proper escape?

French Polynesia makes a fairly convincing case for crossing half the planet. Think volcanic islands rising from impossibly blue lagoons, warm South Pacific waters and island life that feels genuinely removed from the rest of the world.

Our small-ship voyages travel through the Society Islands, including Bora Bora, Moorea, Huahine, Raiatea and Taha'a.

If you're going to go far, you may as well go *this* far.

How far away do you want your next holiday to feel?

Perhaps it's a Mediterranean summer, hopping between the islands of Greece or following Italy's coastline.

Maybe it's winter warmth among the volcanic landscapes of Cape Verde.

Or perhaps only turquoise lagoons in the middle of the South Pacific will do.

Mediterranean, mid-Atlantic or properly far-flung. Where are you choosing?

Winter sun doesn't have to mean the same familiar resorts.

Out in the Atlantic, Cape Verde stays warm through the European winter and has an identity entirely its own.

Its islands vary enormously in character, with dramatic volcanic landscapes and an easygoing pace that makes the whole experience feel refreshingly removed from everyday life.

For winter warmth with a little more adventure attached, put Cape Verde on your radar.

Italy has a habit of showing off from the water.

Along Sicily, the Amalfi Coast and the Aeolian Islands, volcanic landscapes rise from the sea, villages cling to the coastline and little islands sit beyond the reach of the usual road trip.

A small ship can slip into sheltered bays and smaller ports along the way, giving you a perspective of Italy that's very difficult to replicate from land.

And yes, the food waiting ashore certainly helps.

Greece has thousands of islands. That alone should tell you there's rather more to see than the usual suspects.

A small ship opens up a different version of the country, with access to anchorages and harbours that larger cruise ships simply can't reach.

And then there's the choice. The greener Ionian, the unmistakable Cyclades or the history-rich Dodecanese all offer a completely different Greek holiday.

The difficult bit? Choosing which Greece you want first.

Greece, Croatia or Italy? That's a rather nice problem to have.

All three make brilliant Mediterranean cruise destinations, but the experience isn't quite the same.

Greece gives you extraordinary variety between its island groups. Croatia pairs historic coastal towns with a coastline made for exploring by sea. Italy brings together dramatic scenery, food and centuries of culture.

So perhaps the question isn't *where is best?*

It's *what do you want your summer to feel like?*

Marion boarded Panorama alone. She rarely ate alone again.

Among the 34 guests were travellers from Australia, Canada, the USA and the UK. The group bonded quickly, and as the only solo traveller, Marion was regularly invited to join others for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The friendships grew through shared meals, swims in the Aegean and evenings over w**e. On Greek night, guests enjoyed kleftiko, moussaka, dolmades, souvlaki and baklava before joining the dancers for a Zorba circle.

Later, while Marion was enjoying a quiet glass of w**e alone in Serifos, friends from the ship spotted her and insisted she join them.

She didn’t find her “Costas”, as she joked, but she did return with genuine friendships and plenty of stories.

The Greek islands you don’t simply stumble across.

Travel journalist Marion Ainge’s journey aboard Panorama led beyond Greece’s best-known islands to places with their own stories, traditions and pace of life.

In Ikaria, evenings stretch late over w**e and games of dominoes. Patmos is filled with mythology, whitewashed lanes and centuries of history, while Kalymnos carries the legacy of generations of fearless sponge divers.

In Amorgos, 300 stone steps lead to the cliffside Monastery of Hozoviotissa, dramatically embedded in the rock. Then come Milos and Serifos, where Marion found tranquil harbours, turquoise water and time to sit with a glass of w**e overlooking the Aegean.

This is Hidden Greece. A little harder to reach and all the more rewarding for it.

What is life actually like aboard a 34-passenger Greek island cruise?

Travel journalist Marion Ainge joined our seven-night Hidden Greece cruise aboard the sleek, three-masted Panorama.

Her roomy, air-conditioned cabin was cleaned twice daily, while the wood-panelled lounge, spacious sun decks and upper-deck bar became the setting for relaxed days at sea.

There were quiet beaches reached by tender, swims straight from the ship, plentiful meals, pre-dinner cocktails and drinks beneath the stars. When the breeze arrived, guests gathered on deck to watch Panorama’s sails being raised above the Aegean.

And at just five feet tall, Marion couldn’t see through her porthole or reach the safe, so the crew found her a sturdy little set of steps. Small-ship service in action. 😄
