Sailing the Corinth Canal on Emerald Kaia 🇬🇷

The canal is just over 6km long and cut straight through solid rock, with the walls rising up to around 80 metres on either side. It opened in 1893 and is narrow enough that most cruise ships can’t fit through, so being able to sail it was a real highlight of the trip.

This is one of the things I love about yacht cruising. Smaller ships can get into places the big ones can’t, the pace is slower, and it feels far more personal on board.

This is what Ikos does best. 🌊

My clients filmed this at Ikos Kissamos, and it’s exactly why the brand has such a following.

Right now, most Ikos resorts have up to 15% off Deluxe Collection Suites and Villas for Summer 2027 (Kissamos not included in this particular offer, but still very much worth the trip based on this footage). That’s the Autumn Campaign stacked with early booking, and Ikos have also reduced third-guest pricing across the board, so it’s a good one for families and group bookings too.

We’ve been on board Crystal Serenity for almost a week now. Absolutely beautiful ship, and a few things stood out enough to actually write down.

Space. She’s built to hold over 1,000 guests but carries just 700 cabins. You feel it everywhere: balconies roughly double the size of what you’d get on most other lines, and a pool deck spaced out enough that you’re never hunting for a sunbed.

The food. Properly Michelin-level, rotated across Umi Uma, Osteria d’Ovidio and Beefbar (Beefbar does lunch too, which most steakhouses at sea don’t bother with).

The service. A butler is standard in every suite. Ours presses 5 items a day, will pack and unpack for you, and keeps canapés and snacks coming so you’re never waiting on room service. Combined with a crew ratio close to 1 to 1, it’s the kind of attentive that doesn’t feel intrusive.
