DON’T ARGUE WITH DONKEYS

The donkey said to the tiger:
– “The grass is blue”.

The tiger replied:
– “No, the grass is green.”

The discussion heated up, and the two decided to submit him to arbitration, and for this they went before the lion, the King of the Jungle.

Already before reaching the forest clearing, where the lion was sitting on his throne, the donkey began to shout:
– “His Highness, is it true that the grass is blue?”.

The lion replied:

The king then declared:

The tiger accepted his punishment, but before he asked the lion:
– “Your Majesty, why have you punished me?, after all, the grass is green.”

The lion replied:

The tiger asked:
– “So why are you punishing me?”.

The lion replied:
– “That has nothing to do with the question of whether the grass is blue or green. The punishment is because it is not possible for a brave and intelligent creature like you to waste time arguing with a donkey, and on top of that come and bother me with that question.”

The worst waste of time is arguing with the fool and fanatic who does not care about truth or reality, but only the victory of his beliefs and illusions. Never waste time on arguments that don’t make sense…
There are people who, no matter how much evidence and evidence we present to them, are not in the capacity to understand, and others are blinded by ego, hatred and resentment, and all they want is to be right even if they are not.

When ignorance screams, intelligence is silent. Your peace and quiet are worth more.

The most important thing you can do as an entrepreneur is to develop a passion for travel. You must travel within your country, within Africa, and around the world. Even if you have to go on a bicycle or walk!

I’m being very, very serious. You must travel even if it is not for business, in fact, I would go as far as to say, particularly so! You don’t travel because you are rich, but you will be rich or even richer, if you travel.

Start your travels with a pan-African and global journey. You can take off now.

The other day I was looking at some old photos and found one where I travelled around Europe, hitchhiking. I had so little money, I often ate only once a day.

Here is the thing: You have no right or expectation of building a Pan African business, let alone a global one, if you have never travelled. That does not even make sense. [And you can be creative. Adding to your journey, get a online start while you save up, or if you have work commitments that keep you grounded for a while].

I have travelled throughout Africa and I actually keep a list of the few countries I’m yet to visit. When I travel, my number one objective is to make friends. If I had not travelled so extensively, I would probably not have this platform.

Joshua Nkomo, the African nationalist who we call “Father Zimbabwe,” once observed in front of friends that the thing he loved most about me were my travel stories. A few times, when he was going on a trip, he would call me and ask if I had been there.

__A person who is not curious will never be a particularly successful entrepreneur. What do you SEE?

Last month I was in Lima, Peru, and since it was one of the countries I had not yet visited, I extended my trip by one day which I spent wandering around the capital city. You would not have known it was me if you had met me. I don’t like to draw unnecessary attention because it obscures my ability to study what is going on in a place.

One of my favourite stories is about a guy called Logan Green. He travelled to Africa as a young man, and learnt about our rideshare transport system. What he saw inspired him and a partner to build a company called Lyft about 12 years ago... It now has a market cap valued at about $5,5bn!
