Join the Conversation: 8 September, Daylesford Farm with an expert wool panel from farming, soil health, textiles, manufacturing and innovation. Details below ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘

Why Wool Matters, and what role can it play in a more sustainable future? ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒฑ

On 8 September, Daylesford Farm will bring together knowledge from across farming, soil health, textiles, manufacturing and innovation with an expert wool panel.

Weโ€™re particularly pleased to see two previous Innovation in Wool Award winners:

๐Ÿ† Eddie Mordue, Woolitiser
๐Ÿ† Graham Hull, Wool Pots

Alongside Campaign for Wool supporters and wool experts from British Wool, the Soil Association, Daylesford, H.Dawson / The Woolkeepers, National Sheep Association and Fox Brothers.

A brilliant breadth of expertise exploring the importance of wool today and its potential for the future.

Great photo ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‡

This is a beautiful example of a sheepfold on the downlandsโ€”a truly timeless rural scene.

Sheepfolds were usually positioned close to good pasture, allowing the flock easy access to grazing. During lambing season, the shepherd would often keep his hut nearby so he could watch over the sheep day and night.

The photograph also provides a wonderful example of traditional wattle hurdles in use. These portable barriers were made locally by skilled hurdle makers, usually from hazel cut between autumn and early spring, when the sap was low or only beginning to rise.

Hereโ€™s a look back at a trial we did a few years ago, testing Ruby Red cattle fibre and Llyen wool. With a mixture of curiosity, creativity and plenty of experimenting, itโ€™s always fascinating to revisit these early projects and see how far our R&D journey has come! Do you have a new product idea that combines natural fibres and wool that youโ€™d like us to test? Weโ€™d love to hear from you! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿงถ๐Ÿ‘‡
