Four e-bikes, 16 sessions and plenty of growing confidence! 🚲⚡

Meet Beth, organiser of Safe, Sustainable Travel Torbay, another fantastic charity helping more people discover the benefits of cycling!

Over the past 3–4 months, we've been proud to support Beth and her charity with four Wheels 2 Work Electric e-bikes to help get more people cycling.

And she's certainly been putting them to good use! 🙌

Beth has already delivered a whopping 16 sessions, giving people the opportunity to try e-bikes, develop their cycling skills, build confidence and learn how to stay safe on the roads.

This is exactly what our charity is all about – breaking down barriers, making transport more accessible and helping people feel confident travelling on two wheels. 💚

A huge well done to Beth for all her hard work and dedication! We're proud to continue working together on this fantastic initiative, helping more people across Torbay discover the freedom, confidence and opportunities that cycling can bring.

We've had a bit of a project on our hands recently, and we're getting close to seeing another bike back on the road! 🙌

Kenzie (right) has been hiring a bike from us for the past year after he had an accident which left his bike out of commission. Over the past month he has been working with our team to get his own bike up and running again.

When it first arrived in the workshop, let's just say there was more wrong with it than right!

We've had it on the ramp as a hands-on learning project, giving us the chance to work through the issues and gradually bring it back to life, all while Kenzie gets the chance to learn a bit about bike mechanics.

The good news? We're nearly there! 🎉

All that's left is a new ignition coil, and fingers crossed, we'll have it running again next week! 🤞

It's been great to support Kenzie in getting his own bike back on the road, and we're looking forward to seeing the finished result!

Sometimes the most important check isn’t on the bike... it’s on the person riding it.
The biking community is known for looking out for one another, whether that’s a nod on the road, stopping when another rider needs help, or simply asking, “Are you alright?”
Today is World Mental Health Day, and that's a great opportunity to check in on your mates. If you’re the one struggling, remember that it’s okay to say so.
You never really know what someone might be carrying under the helmet.

Did you know we change tyres for FREE on our hire scooters and motorbikes when they reach their usable limit? This helps to keep you safer on the roads, and you don't need to worry about the cost.

The legal limit for tread on a 125cc motorcycle is 1.0mm across the central three-quarters (75%) of the tread width, with a clearly visible tread pattern on the remaining outer quarters.

This month is Tyre Safety month, so to kick things off, let's begin with a little heads up about the condition of your vehicles tyres. It only takes a moment to check your tyres on a regular basis and ensure you drive legally and don't risk a fine or points on your license!

🚲 Supporting safer, more confident cycling in Torbay!

Last Saturday, Max was out in Torquay last Saturday supporting Safe, Sustainable Travel Torbay at Upton Park Cyclefest.

The day included time in an enclosed training area, helping participants develop their cycling skills and confidence, before heading out onto the roads around Torquay for a group ride, led by instructor Beth 🚴‍♀️🚴

It was particularly great to support the team as Safe, Sustainable Travel Torbay have a selection of Wheels 2 Work South West electric bikes, helping more people discover the benefits of e-bikes and sustainable travel.

Late in posting but we had a great time on Saturday at the Upton Park Cyclefest! The e-bikes and e-trike went down a storm, lots of people got their bikes repaired by the amazing Cycle Torbay CIC and lots of bikes were marked by Torquay Police. It was also great to show Wheels 2 Work South West the kinds of adventures their bikes have been having around the Bay!

You might have spotted some of these signs while out on the road, but do you know why they’re there?

They’re designed specifically with riders in mind, highlighting collision hotspots and reminding us to think about our speed, visibility and positioning as we approach higher-risk stretches of road.

Sometimes a simple reminder at the right moment can make all the difference.

We’ve all had that impatient driver sitting far too close behind - and when you’re on a smaller-powered bike, that pressure can feel even worse.

Don’t let another driver’s impatience dictate your speed. Ride within the limit, ride within your ability and stay confident in your own journey.

If someone is determined to get past and there’s a safe place to pull in and let them go, sometimes they’re much better off ahead of you than sitting on your back wheel!

Never feel pressured into riding faster than you feel safe doing. Your safety matters more than saving someone else a few seconds. 🏍️

Don't let other road users impatience dictate YOUR speed!
