We bought this wagon back in August 2025 with the intentions of getting it grey asap. However, it went straight to work and hasn’t really spent much time off the road since then. Its driver Johnny just had 2 weeks off for his holidays so we took the opportunity to get it to the paint shop! Just the light bars and graphics to go on now! What a stunner I think you’ll agree 😍🎉🥳🚚

Over the last several years I’ve been trying to build a company that can function and remain profitable without being so heavily reliable on me being physically in the yard, in the office or fully reachable 24/7. Family holidays have often involved working with my laptop out poolside or pacing up and down on the beach taking a long work call whilst my family patiently wait for me to finish.
Well finally, I feel I may have cracked it!
With Emma running the office, Andy running the transport, and a team of drivers who know how to do their job properly, I was able to have 10 days off travelling around Europe with Jodie and the kids. My phone was on divert, I had a morning email from Emma detailing profit & loss and a quick nightly phone call with Andy to update me on the days events.
The first time in 7 years I feel like I’ve had an actual holiday! Some actual rest!
I’m back to the UK tomorrow and plan to have the rest of the week off to get things sorted at home before being back in the office on Monday but I would just like to say a massive thank you to Emma, Andy and my team! Having a business that can run itself with the right team and the right procedures in place is a huge milestone for us. I’m now looking forward to getting back to my 4th child 😂😉🤩🥳🚚

If you look really closely, you may see Andy’s wagon on its way back from Southern Ireland yesterday after completing a furniture delivery to a new retail store 🚚
Andy docked in the morning, completed the delivery by 4pm and ended up on the overnight boat back to England last night! International deliveries….all in a days work 😉🚚🎉🤩

We’re only as reliable as our fleet. We could have the best drivers and the best planning in the world (we already do 😉), but if our trucks aren’t up for the work then it all falls apart.

Unfortunately, we’ve had to say goodbye to our 10 year old DAF. The first truck I ever bought and when it wasn’t in the garage, it was a lovely little wagon. I even spent 2 weeks delivering to southern Austria in it! However, it’s time for change!

Welcoming a 3 year old Scania G360! With only 80k miles on the clock this is a huge investment for us but with that we can offer the reliability we need to keep our job moving and our customers happy!
Oh, and we have one very happy driver too 😉😎🥳🚚

Jack needed to get a loaded trailer up to Gunner in Scotland yesterday afternoon (bringing back an empty) and still get back to Tadcaster for 7am to load on behalf of another customer. Only issue, he had a box on but Tadcaster needs a curtain.
Knowing if he came back to the yard he may not have time to trailer swap and be on time for loading, I left the yard at 5am to trailer swap at a motorway services on Jacks route meaning he’ll now be early for loading and I can take the empty box back to Meltham and get back in the office in good time 🤩 Direct Driver Ltd….Thinking outside the box since 2020 😎🚚

4 of us cracked on in the heat this afternoon getting 3 of our wagons tipped and reloaded for Sunday run outs.
Gunner is now on route to Glasgow, Paul is heading to Swindon and Jay is Swansea bound ready for early starts in the morning.
I’ll be back in at 4am to get the Monday starters loaded and on their way for what looks to be another busy week in the world of transport 🥳🚚🤩🎉😎🚛

Since 5th of January we’ve been hiring another unit to see if we had the work for one full time. Well, it turns out we do!
So we bought another one today 🚚🤩 Painted in our colour, shiny light bars, dura brights, premium interior and of course, it’s a Scania 😎

So, we turn 6 today! 6 years to the day when the first van was bought with a £10k bounce back loan. It took up the whole £10k to buy and insure a small 2014 Iveco daily and if it didn’t work, I’d spend the following 5 years paying it off.
I’m so thankful things turned out the way they have.
I asked Gunner if he could create a happy birthday picture for me as he’s been experimenting with AI recently. I think this looks pretty good!
It’s taken 6 years to get here and anyone who sees our operation will see how hard it still is to run a profitable transport company. Rising costs, lots of competition and unexpected problems along the way make it tricky. But, every day I’m living my passion and wouldn’t change it!

We’re now running 4 artics, 3 rigids, and 5 vans (with a 6th due shortly), all with combined annual mileage of roughly 700,000!
It wouldn’t be possible to keep this company moving smoothly without the team I now have working with me everyday. I work alongside 11 other fantastic individuals who plan, manage, and drive Direct Driver forward.
So thank you! Thank you to our customers, our subbies, and our team! Without you sharing my enthusiasm and drive to create something special, we wouldn’t be where we are today 🚚❤️🎉🥳
