Baldrys Coaches A family-run coach business based in Holme Upon Spalding Moor.

We operate a fleet of coaches from 35 to 53 seats, providing school transport, contract and private hire throughout the East Riding and beyond. Day trips are operated, with scheduled pick-ups available from Barmby Moor, Pocklington, Market Weighton, Holme Upon Spalding Moor and Howden.

Well, here is the surprise we had for you. After many years of searching we found this Bedford OB coach in a Scottish transport museum. The owner wanted it to go to an enthusiast and ideally for it to be used. By Easter we hope it will be fully restored and will be available for weddings, proms and vintage work. Very pleased to announce that R511 SCH has just had a full VOSA spot check in York coach park and has been given a CLEAN SHEET!!!! They said they were testing it because it was the oldest coach in the coach park, well that showed them didn't it?

We feel that we have no choice but to say this. Due to the bridge collapse at Howden, we are having to use Newland, Eastrington and Portington as an alternative route because we have passengers to pick up and drop off along that route twice a day. We are trying wherever possible to be courteous and pull in where possible and to keep our speed right down on these roads, which we are fully aware are not suitable for large vehicles. PLEASE UNDERSTAND that we have very little choice and we do not want to be using these roads at all, however, the level of abuse we are receiving is getting beyond a joke! Also, for information, buses and coaches are not capable of driving off road as they do not have diff locks, so please do not expect a bus or coach to drive on a deep grass verge as the risk of getting stuck is extremely high. The bridge collapse was not our fault so we are asking people to please use some common sense and courtesy during this difficult time.

We are trying to help both schools and the coach industry alike by increasing awareness of FREE places to visit for schools which are not necessarily well advertised. We have listed some places below, though if anyone knows of any other places then please post them to our page and share this post with other coach companies, schools, clubs and teachers or anyone who you feel may benefit from this knowledge.
FREE Places to visit;
Drax Power Station - Educational talk and tour
All national Museums including,
The National Railway Museum, York,
The National Media Museum, Bradford,
The National Coal Mining Museum, Wakefield
Racing into Education - Beverley Racecourse - A maths based day relating to horse racing, eg distances, weights and measures etc.
East park - Hull - Scenic park with play areas, and a small zoo.

As you may be aware, the bridge near Howden on the A614 has collapsed, resulting in a road closure. This mainly affects our daily run to The Pocklington School and we have had to divert the bus through Newland, Eastrington and Portington. These villages are not designed for large vehicles but unfortunately we are having to do the best we can until the bridge is repaired. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope that everyone in the area can be as understanding as possible.

A good driver is worth their weight in gold. We would like to thank Darren Moss for keeping an eye on his gauges on Friday and pulling over when he noticed the temperature rising. The coach had thrown a belt off. Darren's vigilance prevented potential expensive damage to the brand new engine which had just been fitted in his coach. Luckily we got a replacement coach to him within 10 minutes and the passengers were all very understanding.
