Which country does the most IVF? π
Most people guess the USA. But per person, itβs not even close.
Israel performs around 5,711 IVF cycles per million people, more than six times the rate of the United States (922).
The surprising part? Infertility itself is almost equally common everywhere. Around 1 in 6 people worldwide (17.5%) experience it in their lifetime, whether they live in a wealthy country (17.8%) or a lower-income one (16.5%).
So why does access look so different? It comes down to who pays. In Israel, public funding covers IVF until a couple has two children, regardless of marital status or sexual orientation. Where treatment is funded, people get treated. Where it isnβt, many quietly go without, or travel abroad to find care they can afford.
Infertility isnβt rare. Itβs just quiet.
