Recap on yesterday.. the middle day of IAAPA Europe here in Londons Excel Centre.. equally as productive, and the energy was sustained. Saw some Halloween themed attractions which we thought.. tis the season…day three is now underway.. so many of the team has managed to come by and experience the Varnes’s of this mega exhibition.. Day two saw Tas and Karen join myself and Chloe!

Day one at IAAPA…done! ✅

What a start. Chloe’s flying the flag for us here all week, and yesterday we had the brilliant Aleks and Jackie from our ops team up on the ground getting stuck in.

We are located on stand S837 with the team at Experience UK (and yes their iconic big red bus 🚌), soaking up the show and marvelling at incredible attractions from every corner of the world.

And of course, being us… we couldn’t look at all these rides, coasters and installations without wondering: who’s going to move them? Because that’s exactly what we do. 😉

Still buzzing from a couple of great days at Blackpool Pleasure Beach last week for the UK Theme Park Awards! 🎢

We kicked things off with a behind-the-scenes tour of the resort (genuinely brilliant! The stuff you never see as a visitor), then straight into networking drinks the evening before the Awards to catch up with old friends and make some new ones.

Awards night itself was a proper spectacle... feathers, sequins and dancing before lunch, and so many well-deserved winners and finalists on the night. Congrats to all of them!

We couldn't resist exploring more of the behind-the-scenes bits afterwards, and obviously had to squeeze in a few rides while we were there 😄

Okay, we'll admit it... We've been banging on about the party (Experience UK's Down the Rabbit Hole 🐰) SO much lately that we almost forgot to mention the actual reason we're all in London...

IAAPA Expo Europe kicks off in just ONE WEEK, and it just so happens to be right round the corner from UCARGO HQ! So naturally, we've got the full team descending on the event.

Less than a week to go! We are heading next week to the UK Theme Park Awards at Blackpool Pleasure Beach where we are sponsors. Hats off to Dr Hannah Fry for this one. 👏

She makes a claim in one of her latest factual and informative posts (which we love here) that the thing that did more for globalisation than any politician or trade deal was… a box. A plain steel shipping container.

The gist: back in 1937 a truck driver called Malcom McLean got stuck waiting at a dock, thought "why not just lift the whole box onto the ship?", and when he finally did it in 1956 the cost of loading cargo fell from about $5.83 a ton to roughly 16 cents. One study reckons it grew trade between wealthy nations by around 790% over 20 years.
