Driver Spotlight!

If you’ve been following our driver stories, you may recognise Jason. He is part of our Driver Training team and plays an important role in supporting new drivers.
Jason joined Abbey a few years ago with no previous HGV driving experience. Today, he helps train new drivers and shares the knowledge he has gained along the way.

→ He takes real pride in his role and understands that everyone learns differently.
"I personally like to pass on the knowledge of what we do, with the understanding that all individuals have a different rate of learning, in addition to a different style of learning, and I pride myself on helping others develop."

→ For Jason, one of the things that stands out most is the people he works with every day.
"It is very rare nowadays to find yourself in a position where, in your daily work, you have trust and respect for the people who support your operations. I find myself every morning happy to be doing my work, knowing that my manager, training manager and planners are doing a good job. Most importantly, they are all approachable if there is ever an occasion where you might need their help."

→ When asked if he would recommend Abbey Logistics:
"My answer? Simply yes."

🚛 Fresh off the production line!

The first seven trucks from our latest fleet investment have arrived, with another 18 set to join the Abbey Logistics fleet over the coming weeks. These new vehicles are supplied by our partner DAF Trucks UK, with thanks to Mike Hudson, DAF Sales Consultant, for the continued support.

Every year we invest in modernising our fleet, focusing on what makes a difference day to day:
✅Better fuel efficiency,
✅A more comfortable working life for our drivers.

These new trucks put our teams in a much stronger position. Drivers get modern, comfortable cabs and the latest technology, so they can do the job safely, efficiently and with pride. Operations benefit from a boost in efficiency and resilience, which helps the team stay on top of things when demand is high, while customers get an even more dependable service.

Matthew Parsons, Group Operational Director, said: “As the Group continues to grow, it’s important that our teams have the right support and equipment to do their jobs effectively. This investment strengthens our fleet and helps us continue delivering the reliable service our customers expect.”

Peter Cunningham, Operations Director, added: “The right trucks make a noticeable difference to our drivers’ everyday jobs.”

This is only the first delivery, with plenty more to come. We'll be sharing the next stages of the rollout as the rest of the fleet arrives.

Thinking about a change?
Meet one of the Abbey drivers who took the next step.🎯

After leaving a well-paid role in search of greater job satisfaction and a better working environment, Randy took the leap and joined Abbey after being recommended by a member of our team.

"After meeting my two instructors, Paul and Ian, I quickly settled in and made good progress," he shared.
"There was plenty to get through during the week, from food safety and hygiene to tanker familiarisation, safe loading and discharge, and the driver assessment."

After completing our in-house Driver Training Academy, Randy then spent two weeks on the road with his mentor, Jason.
"Jason has been an amazing mentor and friend. I now feel much more capable and equipped to do the job."

Randy also wanted to say a big thank you to the wider team who helped him settle in:
"Special thanks to Gary for making sure I knew my way around the port and Enfield, Daryl for helping me in the T&L factory, Jamie, who I share a unit with, and everyone else who made me feel so welcome."

Great day yesterday meeting members of the BFRS community at Stafford and talking all things Tanker Transport.

It was also great to be parked alongside DAF, the trusted supplier of our fleet. We were proud to have one of our own 2024 units on display, looking every bit as impressive as the day it joined the fleet.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat, we're already looking forward to the next event!
