I’ve been doing a bit of research about COP recently and I thought that I’d share it because there might be other people unsure about what it is and how they can get involved or if they should…
🌍 What is COP26?
( )
-The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, is the 26th United Nations Climate Change conference. It is scheduled to be held in the city of Glasgow, Scotland, between 31 October and 12 November 2021.
-Learn more about the history, terms, and processes of the UN climate change negotiations and COP26 in particular in the link titled: “about COP26 global climate talks” in our bio link tree; you can also look up https://ukcop26.org/ (the official COP26 website) but I found the page that’s in our linktree more informative.
🌍 COP26 coalition
( . Also website in our linktree)
-What is it?
“The COP26 Coalition is a UK-based civil society coalition of groups and individuals mobilising around climate justice during COP26. Coalition members include environment and development NGOs, trade unions, grassroots community campaigns, faith groups, youth groups, migrant and racial justice networks – to name a few.”
-What are they doing?
“6 November: Join us in actions across the world so that we can be loud and clear to the world leaders discussing our future: we want climate justice now!
7-10 November: Join us for our People’s Summit for Climate Justice where the climate justice movement will be coming together to discuss, learn and strategize for system change. You can join in online from anywhere in the world, or in-person in Glasgow.”
(Quotes are from their website)
🌍 Want to get involved with COP26?
-A good place to start is by looking at the COP26 coalition website, where you’ll find loads of organisations and events etc to be a part of… but I’d like to mention that Jessie (one of the DYPF’s core team) is cycling up to COP26 check it out !!!
Hope some of that was useful,
Gwen :)
