This World Environment Day, we’re reflecting on the role we play in tackling climate change.

From restoring coastal ecosystems through mangrove planting to supporting reforestation, our projects protect biodiversity, strengthen communities and increase carbon capture.

But sustainability isn’t just about reducing our own footprint. It’s about creating lasting, positive change for people and the planet.
That’s why we go beyond our operations – investing in projects that restore landscapes, support livelihoods and build resilience to climate impacts.

At the same time, through our All In sustainability plan, we’re embedding climate action across our business by electrifying ground operations, increasing renewable energy use, and working with partners to reduce emissions.

Our goal: net zero emissions by 2045, backed by science-based targets and measurable progress.

Most baggage issues come down to one thing: you can’t see what’s missing until it’s too late. We’re changing that. 🧳

We’re rolling out a next-generation Baggage Reconciliation System (BRS) across our European network with aviation technology specialist, ABOMIS. Instead of paper, teams can now see exactly what’s been checked in, sorted and loaded in one place. If something hasn’t made it through, they can act before departure.

At Milan Malpensa, that’s helped reduce bags missing their flight by more than 70%.

Following a successful launch at Milan Malpensa (MXP), the system is now live across a growing network of airports including Málaga-Costa del Sol (AGP), Palma de Mallorca (PMI), Barcelona-El Prat (BCN), Alicante (ALC), Ibiza (IBZ), Seville (SVQ), Tenerife South (TFS), Gran Canaria (LPA) Almería (LEI), Murcia (RMU) and Nice (NCE). Further expansion is underway as part of a phased rollout across Menzies Aviation’s wider European network.

This is part of our ongoing work with ABOMIS to solve real operational challenges and improve how operations run day to day.

This week, we welcomed Bangladesh’s Honourable Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, Afroza Khanam Rita, and Acting High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Nazrul Islam, to our operations at London’s Heathrow Airport.

During the visit, they saw first-hand how we coordinate passenger and ramp services at scale, including our Operations Control Centre – the hub that manages teams, equipment and flights across the airport in real time.

Bangladesh is one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets, already supporting over 120,000 jobs and set to grow significantly in the years ahead. The visit highlighted the strength of the UK–Bangladesh relationship and the important role aviation plays in connecting people, trade and opportunity.

Thank you to Minister Rita and Acting High Commissioner Islam for taking the time to visit. We look forward to exploring opportunities to support the growth of Bangladesh’s aviation sector.

United Airlines is back in Glasgow ✈️

We’re proud to support the airline as it restores its non-stop service between Scotland and the U.S.

Earlier this month, the airline launched a new daily seasonal service – now the only U.S. airline offering a nonstop route between Glasgow and the United States.

For our local team, this moment follows months of preparation, culminating in a successful launch delivered with real professionalism, teamwork and focus – with bagpipes, Highland dancers and a water salute to mark the occasion 👏

Congratulations to Graeme Bennion and our Glasgow colleagues on a fantastic start to the summer season.

We’re working with easyJet and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to bring new automated taxiing vehicles into daily operations at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. ✈️

TaxiBot is a semi-robotic electric towing vehicle that moves aircraft between the gate and runway, so pilots don’t need to use their engines during taxiing.

That means less fuel burned and fewer emissions – around 95kg of fuel and 299kg of CO₂ saved per flight – helping create a cleaner, quieter environment on the ramp. 💙

Our role is making it work on the ground, from operating the vehicles to coordinating aircraft movements alongside airline and airport teams.

A fresh look and a proud moment for our team in Entebbe. ✨

Earlier this month, our colleagues in Uganda marked the arrival of our new Front of House uniforms at Entebbe International Airport.

The celebrations brought together colleagues, partners and stakeholders from across the aviation community to unveil the new look. More than just a new uniform, it demonstrates the pride our teams take in representing Menzies every day.

Thank you to Nouamane Zahouani, Mary Efata, Saasi Annet, Joseph Abilla Ogwang, SSempebwa Deborah, Charles Ogwang and Peter Ochieng for bringing this to life, and to everyone in Entebbe for the for the standard they set on the ground. 💙

Which of our stations are charging ahead? ⚡

Last week, we announced we’d hit our first electric GSE target, meaning 25% of our global fleet is now electric.

Today, we’re spotlighting the stations making the biggest leaps in our electric-first push - helping turn our All In approach to sustainability into real progress on the ground.

👇Check out the video below to see our progress in action.

It was a night of celebration for our teams at this year’s Aviation Services UK Aviation Heroes Awards 🙌

For the second year running, we were recognised across multiple categories.

From improving safety and great teamwork, to going above and beyond for passengers when it matters most – this is what great ground handling looks like in practice.

Congratulations to Colin Reid, Shadi Azodi Ghajar and Brian Smith on their awards, and to Nancy Campbell, Elizabeth Kerr and Patrick Hanlon for being highly commended 👏

Another brilliant evening celebrating the people who keep our industry moving.

25% of our global Ground Support Equipment fleet is now electric. A goal we set at the start of our journey to net zero to drive down our carbon emissions.

In 2025, we added more than 620 electric GSE assets to our fleet, with more than 20 locations now operating fleets that are over 50% electric, and 11 exceeding 70%. Strong airport infrastructure, close collaboration with airline partners and an electric‑first approach to new equipment are enabling quieter, lower‑emission ground operations – including fully electric aircraft turns at several locations.

This progress reflects long‑term investment and strong partnerships, and it’s a clear example of our All In approach to sustainability: embedding responsibility into everyday operations and scaling what works across our global network as we work towards net zero by 2045.
