Letโs have a little chat about these so-called โtravel agentsโ who tell you they can fit travel around a full-time job, do it in their spare time, and still offer you the same level of service as a dedicated travel professional.
Because tonight has reminded me EXACTLY why what we do at PR TRAVEL LTD is about so much more than booking holidays. ๐โ๏ธ
And yes, Iโm going to be brutally honest here, because when things go wrong, thatโs when you find out what your travel agent is REALLY made of!
โค๏ธ A HONEYMOON THAT TOOK A HEARTBREAKING TURNโฆ
Imagine being a lovely young couple who have recently married, heading off to the Bahamas for what should be the most magical honeymoon. ๐ดโ๏ธ๐ฅ
The excitement, the plans, the countdown, the dreams of that first special holiday together as newlyweds. โค๏ธ
Except it didnโt quite go to planโฆ
After arriving in the Bahamas today, the husband called me absolutely beside himself. His wife had been refused entry by immigration, while he had been cleared to enter the country and effectively told to enjoy his holiday.
Imagine being told you can go and enjoy your holiday while your new wife is being refused entry. On your HONEYMOON! ๐
He needed help. He needed advice. He needed somebody in his corner.
And it was already late in the evening.
So, what did I do?
Did I ignore the call because it was outside normal working hours? โ
Did I think, โIโll deal with that tomorrowโ? โ
Did I leave a devastated client to try to navigate an incredibly stressful situation on his own? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
I ANSWERED. I LISTENED. AND I GOT TO WORK. ๐ช๐
Iโve been in this industry a long time, but Iโve never had a client face this particular situation before. And do you know what? Even with years of experience, there are times when you need the right support around you.
Immigration wouldnโt speak to me, and the situation was incredibly difficult to navigate. So I contacted our amazing head office support line, where the lovely Sam stepped in and helped me immensely. ๐
Between the calls, the uncertainty, the stress and trying to reassure a couple whose dream honeymoon had suddenly become a nightmare, I kept going.
Because when a client puts their trust in you, you donโt just walk away when things get difficult.
After several hours and a LOT of phone calls, we finally managed to arrange for him to return to the UK on the same flight as his wife this evening. ๐ฌ๐งโค๏ธ
It wasnโt the honeymoon they had planned. It wasnโt the experience they deserved. And it certainly wasnโt the start to married life they had been dreaming of.
But we got them back together, heading home, and once theyโre safely back, weโll regroup, look at the options and find them an alternative holiday so they can still have the honeymoon they deserve. ๐โ๏ธ๐ด
It might not be the Bahamas this time, but you can be damn sure weโll do everything we reasonably can to make sure they have something special to look forward to.
