I live and work in this area I can tell you they’re not being very successful in improving driving skills in the city.

Generally seen as a money making exercise for the ever skint council, police and the rest of them making money out of it all.

So what are your thoughts on this?
I reply to a post on fb wanting a sofa delivery.
It’s already late evening and me and other van men kind of get ridiculed for not answering this person pretty much Immediately as though we should be on 24h call out.

When they finally text me to arrange a time it becomes obvious they don’t have contact with the item seller to make the arrangements for collection time so now I’m waiting on them for confirmation.

Eventually it’s arranged for first thing next morning.

Next day wake up to clients text message to cancel.

They were originally offered a 2 men moving service but declined it to keep costs down and booked 1 man service using clients help to lift the item, although it’s become obvious in their last message that it was probably going to be too much for them to do all along !

-I’m ridiculed for not answering the phone at 9.30pm after working all day although messages are still answered !
-I’m left waiting around whilst they try to decide what to do and contact other person late at night.
- Then a very early morning text to cancel because they’ve realised it’s too much for them to do.

All this is my time and energy wasted late at night with an earlier than normal wake up alarm, to fit their sofa collection in next day.
All my efforts and accommodating last minute request for nothing !!!

This isn’t a one off, it happens again and again and can even be middle of the night.

This is why my phone goes on a Do Not Disturb mode for calls after a certain time in the evening.

Panicked fb marketplace buyers late at night who don’t want to miss out on a good deal that’s not even been agreed on yet, that more often than not doesn’t happen.

I don’t quote cheap to get the job and then on the day bump the price !

I’m honest and upfront with you and don’t try to deceive you or miss lead you or add additional hidden costs to your delivery…

So why do people think that it’s ok to do the equivalent to me from a customers side ?

Is it because I’m a small business and you think that it’s ok to try scam businesses?

Today after a new enquiry for a price, I asked what this person needed to move so I can give them the correct cost.

Because their collection would be 5 mins from my previous job, and wasn’t a large amount of things, I gave them a very good price to move their things based on the list they provided.

Only for them to send their booking details and turn around and offer me an extra £1 to add an undisclosed number of additional boxes to the job.

Additional things mean additional work, which takes additional time !
An additional £1 isn’t going to pay the additional wages for 2 Men for an additional 30 minutes on the job !!

My price was obviously a lot lower than any other quotes he had received otherwise he wouldn’t have been trying to book me.
Yet he was still trying it on !

Needless to say, I’m now unavailable for his move.
