Another little adventure around the corner...
So Sunday will be flying off to Fuerteventura.

For those who don't know :-
is one of the Canary Islands, in the Atlantic Ocean, geographically part of Macaronesia, and politically part of Spain. It is located 97 km (60 mi) away from the coast of North Africa. The island was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 2009.

With so many hotels to choose from, reading different reviews, day in day out 🫣🤣 We decided on :-
The R2 RIO CALMA HOTEL AND SPA
Booked through Jet2.com & Jet2holidays it's the first time we have used 🤔 it's going to be very convenient for us, as we will be flying from Bournemouth 🥰 shame it wasn't Southampton, now that would have been even more convenient 🤣

So last night ( Saturday 2nd May ) we AKA stayed at Lodge at Solent.
Which is the sister hotel to the much bigger Solent Hotel & Spa next door.
It was a last minute decision to book a night away, and decided to surprise the wife, I chose the Lodge at Solent as we were eating Kams Palace for our 20th wedding anniversary, and Kams Palace is only 5 minutes away from the hotel.
well 20th anniversary is China, so we thought 🤔 we would go for a Chinese 🤣
Now we normally stay in, Premier Inn, Holiday Inn, Hilton etc...
Although only living half an hour away in Southampton, we have never heard of Lodge at Solent. So thought we would try something different.

I am so glad we did, what a wonderful clean and quirky hotel it is, one of the most clean hotels we have ever stayed in, from the minute we checked in, the staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. 👏
Our room was spacious and yet again spotless, we were lucky enough to be upgraded, we had a lovely balcony and coffee pod machine in the room.
We wouldn't hesitate to go back, and can highly recommend this lovely hotel, if you ever need accommodation in the area.
The hotel also has a wonderful, pub kitchen attached to the hotel called Parson's Collar, Whiteley Fareham which had the most wonderful atmosphere and a great selection of food and drink, also a traditional pizza oven.
We had a few drinks, before we went out for dinner and when we got back, one of the staff that checked us in remembered it was our anniversary, and asked if we had a nice meal and evening out.
We would even consider driving to the Parson's Collar for food one night because the food l👀Ked amazing, and if the food was anything like our breakfast we had in the morning 🤪 👏🫶
I went for the lodge breakfast, it had the most amazingly cooked poached eggs I have ever had on a breakfast, the wife went for a bacon bap, and has you can see from the image, that was definitely a bacon bap 🤪.
We can't recommend this hotel enough, and would even consider another cheeky night away half an hour up the road.

So Saturday me and my beautiful wife will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary 🥰

So we thought we would go for 🤔
That's right, you got it Chinese.

We're off to Kams Palace
We have never visited this wonderful looking Chinese at park Gate in Southampton before, so to see what we thought of it.

A bit late posting this one.. 🫣
But last Monday night went to see the amazing Rick Astley at the BIC Bournemouth

We regularly go to the BIC for different shows and events the last show before seeing Rick Astley on Monday was John Bishop , when seeing John Bishop we noticed a restaurant inside the BIC called Elevate Brasserie & Bar as it was tipping down with rain we tried to book a table before the show but it was full.
So when we booked the tickets Rick Astley we decided to book a table at Elevate Brasserie at the same time.
And we are so glad we did, what some wonderful food and amazing friendly staff. And yet again it was packed solid before the show.
The food was lovely, and they did a great pre show dinning menu 2 courses for £19.95 or 3 courses £24.00
There is also happy hour 5-7 all cocktails 2 for 1

We went for 2 courses as it was quite filling 🤪

Menu choice
Starters we both went for :-
Pressed chicken & ham terrine

Mains
Slow braised shoulder of lamb cassoulet

Roasted spinach gnocchi

Washed down with a bottle of Flagstone pottery pilotage.

As we said the food was amazing, and really great friendly staff, we can definitely highly recommend even if your not attending a show or concert, you wont be disappointed.
So why not pay them a visit if your ever in Bournemouth.

So this weekend we visited some very close friends we met on our very first holiday in 27 years ago. 👏

It has been about 3 years since our last visit, Friday evening was a peaceful catch up, at their house, with drinks.

They suggested Saturday we go out for dinner, we had to travel back to Southampton, Saturday evening, so they decided to book late afternoon. They had eaten at Volare Italian restaurant the Saturday before and said they really enjoyed it. So they decided to book again for when we visited this Saturday.

My god.. I'm so glad they did, one of the best Italian restaurants we have eaten in for a long time. 👌
Absolutely amazing food, wonderful staff and a great atmosphere, and the place was packed and buzzing for 4.30 in the afternoon, which says it all.
We would like to thank all the staff for the wonderful food and service. 5*

We definitely recommend and if you're ever in Caerphilly you must pay them a visit you definitely won't be disappointed.

Dippy egg cookie cup 🤪
it was good. 🫶

THE CREAMY & FRUITY ONE
A chewy milk chocolate chip cookie base, with a whipped white chocolate cheesecake filling and a mango & passion fruit sauce, topped with an all-butter shortbread.

Have you tried one yet..
we can highly recommend.
