🚌 My Final Post for – A Trip Down Memory Lane! ❤️

For my final instalment of National Coach Week, I thought I'd share a little bit of my own coaching history!

Here I am in Venice 🇮🇹 during my earlier coaching days, when I was working for Hardings of Redditch.

Pictured with me is my good friend Dave, who sadly is no longer with us ❤️, along with Lewis from LA Travel.

Over the years, my coaching career has taken me through Den Caney, Pattersons, Hardings and LA Travel, before eventually leading me to where I am today with Clarkes Travel.

I've travelled thousands of miles, visited some fantastic places, worked alongside some brilliant people and made friendships that have lasted a lifetime.

Sadly, some of those friends are no longer here, but the memories certainly live on. ❤️

Coaching has never just been about driving a vehicle from A to B. It's about the people you meet, the places you visit, the laughs along the way and the memories you make.

And even after all these years, I still love what I do! 🚌

A big thank you to everyone I've worked with, travelled with or met along the way. You've all been part of my journey.

Here's to many more miles and memories with Clarkes Travel!

Once a coach driver, always a coach driver! ❤️

🚌 NATIONAL COACH WEEK – COACH vs TRAIN! 🚆

Now here's a debate that might get a few people talking! 😂

We're celebrating National Coach Week, so we thought we'd put the humble coach up against the train!

🚆 Travelling by train?
✅ Often quicker on longer journeys
✅ Great for travelling between major cities
❌ Getting to and from the station
❌ Changing trains and platforms
❌ Not always guaranteed a seat
❌ Then possibly paying for a taxi or bus at the other end!

🚌 Travelling by coach?
✅ Pick up locally, often closer to home
✅ A comfortable, guaranteed seat
✅ No changing trains or dragging luggage between platforms
✅ Great for groups travelling together
✅ Often more affordable, especially for group travel
✅ One vehicle can take dozens of cars off the road!

Of course, trains have their place, and we're not knocking them. But we do think coaches are sometimes overlooked when it comes to public transport!

Here at Clarkes Travel, we believe the journey should be part of the day out, not just a way of getting there. ❤️

And there's something rather nice about getting on a coach locally, having a chat with fellow passengers and being dropped off at your destination without worrying about connections!

So here's our National Coach Week question...

🚌 TEAM COACH or 🚆 TEAM TRAIN?

And more importantly, WHY?

Come on, let's hear your thoughts! 👇😂

🚌❤️ NATIONAL COACH WEEK – HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED! ❤️🚌

We've been having a little look back at the history of coach travel, and it's amazing to see just how far things have come!

Long before the modern coaches we see on the roads today, there were charabancs!

For those who don't remember them, these were the early days of coach trips. Open-topped vehicles, rows of seats, not much comfort and if it rained, well... you probably got wet! ☔😂

Back in the early 1900s, a trip out on a charabanc was something really special. Families, friends and workmates would all pile aboard for a day at the seaside or a trip into the countryside.

For many, it was the highlight of their year.

And when you think about it, not that much has really changed.

Yes, we've now got comfortable seats, heating, air conditioning and coaches that are a world away from those early charabancs.

But the best bit of coach travel has always been the people. ❤️

The excitement of going somewhere, the chatter on the way, the laughs, the friendships and the memories made along the journey.

That's what we love about what we do here at Clarkes Travel.

We're a small family-run business, and we might not have a huge fleet of coaches, but we take pride in every journey and every passenger who chooses to travel with us.

There's a lot of history behind our industry, and we're proud to be a little part of it.

So this National Coach Week, here's to all the coach drivers, past and present, the family operators, and of course all the lovely passengers who keep us going. 🚌👏

Now we'd love to know...

Who remembers the old charabancs or the coach trips of years gone by?

Did you go on seaside outings, works trips or Sunday school excursions?

We'd absolutely love to hear your memories, and even better, if you've got an old photo of a coach trip, pop it in the comments! 📸❤️

From the old charabancs to today's coaches, it's always been about getting people out and about and making memories.

From all of us at Clarkes Travel, thank you for being part of our journey. ❤️🚌

🚌 NEW DAY TRIP IDEA FOR 2027! 🛍️🌸

Looks like we might have a new day trip option for next year… and this one's 2 destinations in 1! 😍

🌷 Dobbies Garden Centre – Perfect for a browse, a bit of shopping and maybe a coffee and cake!

🛍️ Cotswolds Designer Outlet – A chance to grab a bargain at some fantastic shops!

Two great places, one day out, and no worrying about driving or parking! 🚌

We're always looking for new places to take you, and this could be a lovely addition to our 2027 day trips.

What do you think? Would you fancy this one? 👀

🚌💙 National Coach Week – Why Choose Coach Travel?

We might be a little biased, but we think travelling by coach is one of the best ways to get around! 😂

Here's just a few reasons why...

✅ Great value for money – Especially when travelling as a group!

✅ Better for the environment – One coach can take dozens of cars off the road, helping reduce congestion and emissions.

✅ No parking headaches – No driving around looking for a space or paying expensive parking charges!

✅ Sit back and relax – Let someone else worry about the traffic, directions and driving.

✅ Travel together – Whether it's a school trip, family outing or day out with friends, the journey becomes part of the fun.

✅ Supporting local businesses – Many coach operators are small, independent businesses employing local people and supporting the local economy.

✅ Accessible to more people – Coach trips help people get out, socialise, explore new places and enjoy days out they might not otherwise manage.

And here's something worth remembering...

🚌 A full coach can replace dozens of cars on our roads!

At Clarkes Travel, we're proud to play our small part in keeping Britain moving.

So next time you're organising a group trip, why not consider hiring a coach?

It's convenient, sociable, great value and often a greener way to travel!

💙 Let's hear it for the humble coach!

🚌💙 IT'S NATIONAL COACH WEEK! 💙🚌

This week we're celebrating an industry that doesn't always get the recognition it deserves!

Behind every coach journey is a driver, a business and a lot of hard work keeping Britain moving. 🇬🇧

Here at Clarkes Travel, we're proud to be a small, independent, family-run coach operator based in Birmingham.

From school trips and private hire to our popular seaside day trips, it's about so much more than getting people from A to B.

It's about making memories, bringing communities together and putting smiles on faces. ❤️

Running a small coach business isn't always easy. Rising costs, long hours and unexpected challenges are all part of the job. But seeing our passengers enjoying themselves makes it worthwhile!

👏 A big shout-out to all our fellow coach operators, drivers, mechanics and everyone working behind the scenes. Especially the smaller independent operators who work tirelessly to keep their wheels turning.

And most importantly, THANK YOU to everyone who chooses to travel with us. Without your support, we wouldn't be here!

🚌 This National Coach Week, let's show some love for the coach industry!

🏔️ What a view! 😍🚌💜

Some lovely photos of our Clarkes Travel coach up at Mam Tor in the beautiful Peak District, looking down over Edale!

The dramatic skies, rolling hills and stunning scenery make for some fantastic pictures. 📸

Sometimes you've just got to stop for a moment and appreciate the views. Not a bad office for the day, is it? 😁

Who else loves the Peak District? Have you ever visited Mam Tor or Edale?
