Air Alderney – Statement from the Founder & CEO
To the people of Alderney and the Channel Islands,
Air Alderney was founded on a simple principle: that Alderney deserves a reliable, locally focused air service built around the needs of its community.
Over the years, we have received strong support from many islanders and those connected to the Channel Islands, and I remain genuinely grateful for that backing. As with any project of this scale, there have also been differing views. That is entirely expected — but our focus remains on delivering a practical and sustainable solution for the island.
To date, I have personally invested approximately £4.5 million into Air Alderney with no reliance on public funding or institutional backing. As part of this investment, we have acquired ten Britten-Norman Islander aircraft, sourced from established commercial operators running comparable regional services. These aircraft have been selected specifically for their proven capability on short routes such as those required within the Channel Islands.
Our previous operations in Alderney were paused for one clear reason: the cost structure made sustainable flying impossible. At the time, every flight required the use of Aurigny as the compulsory ground handling agent, alongside standard airport charges set by the States. The combined effect of these costs
meant that revenue generated by flights was effectively absorbed by fees before a viable
operating margin could be achieved. This is not a matter of opinion — it is a straightforward
commercial reality. No airline, regardless of intent, can operate sustainably under those conditions.
Over the past two years, we have worked consistently with the States of Guernsey to resolve
this. A key part of that process has been our application to operate our own ground handling,
which is essential to creating a viable and self-sustaining operation. We have submitted all
required documentation and continue to engage as this process progresses, despite changes
in points of contact with the states of Guernsey over time. However, I remain resilient and determined to bring Air Alderney back to the community —
stronger, more capable, and more committed than ever.
Here is what we are ready to deliver:
1. A dedicated medical BN-2 Islander based in Alderney year-round
Fully equipped for medevac operations and used exclusively for emergency medical transport.
During the open day, many of you will have already seen the dedicated medevac Islander
positioned in Alderney, demonstrating our readiness to support the island.
2. A fleet of up to nine additional Islanders
Rotating between Alderney, Guernsey, Jersey, and Cherbourg to provide reliable, flexible
connectivity.Company number: 1951
Registered address: 5a St Annes House

3. A dedicated maintenance facility on Alderney
Built and operated by Air Alderney to ensure aircraft remain serviceable, reliable, and available
when needed.
4. Full ground handling for our passengers
Including check-in and movement through the main terminal.
5. A new terminal building
Designed, funded, and constructed by us — with no request for public money.
What is required to move forward
To deliver this, the requirements are straightforward:
• Approval for our own ground handling license
• Allocation of appropriate space within the terminal
• A commercially workable approach to landing fees for a local operator
These are not exceptional requests — they are standard conditions required for any small
regional airline to operate sustainably.
A commitment to Alderney,
My intention is not simply to operate flights, but to invest in Alderney long-term — to be based
here, to contribute to the local economy, and to provide a service that the island can rely on.
Air Alderney is not a short-term venture. It is a long-term commitment to connectivity,
resilience, and local capability.
To those who have supported us so far, thank you. Your backing has been invaluable. As we
move forward, that support will play an important role in helping bring this project to fruition.
Together, we can make this happen.
Sincerely,
Danny Brem-Wilson Jnr
