𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝟬𝟯 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝘁 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁

We would like to update our local community that the Runway 03 Instrument Approach Trial at London Biggin Hill Airport has been extended until October 2027.

Authorised by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, the approach will continue to be operated by suitably equipped aircraft and operators and will remain closely monitored throughout the extended trial period.

The new approach is a carefully designed procedure that enables aircraft to land in a wider range of weather conditions, which will alleviate a percentage of traffic from the areas under the Instrument Landing System (ILS) approach for Runway 21.

This next phase enables us to continue delivering the operational benefits of the approach, while running the required Airspace Change Process (ACP) in parallel, supporting the permanent implementation of the approach.

We were delighted to welcome Year 10 students from Bishop Justus Church of England School to the airport recently ✈

During their visit, the students explored the day-to-day operations at London Biggin Hill, speaking with our colleagues about their roles and responsibilities across the airport. They also visited Bombardier, where several Bishop Justus alumni are now working, to gain an insight into aircraft engineering.

The group then headed to EFG Flying School to discover pilot careers and FlyaSpitfire.com to learn more about the iconic Spitfire and the specialist restoration work that keeps these historic aircraft flying.

Congratulations to Bromley FC Women, who remain unbeaten this season following their fantastic win in the Women's FA Cup yesterday! ⚽

The Women’s team also reached another exciting milestone in their journey, welcoming 𝟭,𝟮𝟬𝟴 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 to the CopperJax Stadium for the match – smashing the previous attendance record as part of their 'Raise the Record' campaign.

We are proud to support Bromley FC Women as they continue to inspire women and girls across Bromley, encouraging them to aim for the sky in pursuing their passions and goals. A huge congratulations to the Women's team on an amazing match - we look forward to seeing what the rest of the season brings!

We were proud to support the RAF Biggin Hill Museum & Chapel with their Battle of Britain Flower Festival recently 💐

Displayed in the St George’s Chapel of Remembrance, the festival was a huge success, bringing many familiar faces as well as new members of the local community to appreciate the beautiful arrangements and commemorate the legacy of the Battle of Britain.

At London Biggin Hill Airport, we are proud of our rich heritage, and we thank the Museum & Chapel, along with the Bromley Guild of Church Flower Arrangers & Friends, for hosting an event to highlight this important day.

Today marks 4 years since we proudly unveiled The Strongest Link Garden at London Biggin Hill Airport.

The commemorative space was formally opened by Randolph Churchill, great grandson of Sir Winston Churchill, during a special event with veterans and their families.

Four years on, the statue remains a powerful symbol of remembrance and resilience, serving as a daily reminder of the significant role our airport played in history.

The Strongest Link Garden provides a place for reflection and remembrance for all who visit, whilst also standing as a lasting tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country during the Battle of Britain and beyond. It ensures their courage, service and sacrifice are never forgotten, and that their legacy lives on for future generations.

Earlier this month, two of our Rescue & Firefighting Service (RFFS) Station Managers, Vanessa and Chris, attended the Emergency Services Show – bringing together the emergency services community to build connections, share expertise and help shape the future of the industry.

Vanessa and her fellow panelists explored ‘𝘓𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱: 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴 𝘊𝘦𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 & 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥’, discussing the opportunities and challenges women in emergency services often face throughout their careers. Vanessa shared her own experiences, having been a part of the London Biggin Hill RFFS for 14 years, she gave insight on how much the blue light industry has changed and how this has shaped her approach to leading the team. The panel discussed how the community can work to encourage the next generation of women in emergency services, building on Vanessa’s interview with the Emergency Services Times as part of the campaign.

Chris joined the ‘𝘔𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥’ panel, exploring the risks all firefighters face through exposure to harmful chemicals and spreading awareness of prevention and occupational health across all emergency services. He highlighted the steps our RFFS has taken over the last few years to become industry pioneers in this field by implementing innovative new technologies, changing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and undergoing significant training in new decontamination procedures.

At London Biggin Hill, we are proud to have colleagues who are committed to making a positive difference. It was fantastic to see Vanessa and Chris sharing their knowledge at the Emergency Services Show and contributing to continued improvement across the sector.

We were delighted to once again take part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support! ☕

Our colleagues came together to bake lots of goodies for a cake sale, and our team at the Lookout Coffee Shop hosted a coffee morning for the local community 🍰

Together, these events raised £800, which is enough to run Macmillan's Online Community forum for one day. In this time, more than 1,500 people affected by cancer in the UK can share emotional and practical support to each other.

Thanks to all our colleagues and local community for supporting the coffee morning and doing their bit to help people living with cancer receive vital medical, practical and emotional support 💚

Earlier this month, we were delighted to host the start of the Royal British Legion’s 𝙋𝙚𝙙𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙤 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙨 fundraiser! 🚴

This year’s ride was particularly special, marking the event’s 30th anniversary as cyclists once again took on the journey in support of the Armed Forces community.

A total of 120 cyclists and 20 ride captains set off from London Biggin Hill on the expedition to Paris, with Captains Mary and Merlin accompanying the group as support crew for the 300-mile adventure too!

Congratulations to everyone who took part. So far, a fantastic £𝟯𝟱𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 has been raised for the charity, and we are proud to play a small part in supporting such a meaningful cause.
