*The day before the big move Pers’ packers arrive at your home.
* Flooring is covered in a layer of floor protection to keep it clean.
*Then we get to work, starting with the most delicate items - china and glassware – each piece individually wrapped, in tissue paper…. Long-stem glasses: each glass has as much paper placed around the stem as possible…
Glass/stemware – paper in bottom of box before placing it in, to create a cushion…
*Crockery: plates, 3 wrapped at a time… 6 sheets of paper, plates stacked vertically/lengthways in rows…. Never horizontally on top of one another
*Jugs - extra paper around the handle so it doesn’t break… extra paper around the spout & handle of teapots, then wrap them.
* Next, we move to valuable artwork, paintings, and mirrors… [show how the brown paper is used, how artwork is placed face down, how the picture boxes are used/sealed]…. For fine artwork we wear white cotton gloves & use acid-free tissue paper….[demonstrate]
* We then pack up your clothes, using wardrobe boxes to make sure your favourite outfits arrive at your new home in pristine condition….
* Onto the big stuff…all mattresses and sofas are protected with heavy-duty padded covers. Furniture which requires disassembly will be disassembled, ready to be taken to your new home ….
*Oh, and – of course – all boxes are labelled, before they’re sealed, with; their contents, the room they came from, and the room they’ll go to in your new home…
*We leave you with the necessities for that last night in your old home - bedding, TV and a few pieces of cutlery and crockery - and let you get a good night’s sleep…
*Next morning we arrive bright and early, with all the necessary trucks and staff. You’ll be introduced to a friendly foreman and the crew, and you’ll all go round the house together, with you giving any instructions you’d like to.
*We pack up any last bits, then start loading the vans with your precious belongings
[mention re; strapping furniture & how delicate items are placed in the vans]
*We get to your new place and the vans are unloaded, with all boxes located in the right rooms, before furniture is carefully reassembled.
*That’s it, we’ll leave you to enjoy your new home, and you won’t see us again…. That is, of course, until the next time you happen to move!
