Santa Ana winds are among the most well-known offshore winds along the U.S. West Coast. 🌬️

Flowing from the desert toward the Pacific, they bring warm, very dry air and can accelerate quickly through mountain passes and coastal canyons.
These winds are famous on land for increasing wildfire risk, but they can also create challenging offshore conditions for sailors, especially near the Southern California coast.

Understanding how regional winds like the Santa Ana form helps mariners anticipate sudden changes and make safer decisions at sea. ⚓
