🌟 Important Update on Personal Import Regulations 🌟

We want to keep you informed about recent changes in import regulations. The value threshold for private or personal imports has now been reduced from FJD $2,000 to FJD $1,000.

Previously, items imported for personal use under this threshold were exempt from VAT; however, they are now subject to a 15% Import VAT. For those items exceeding the new threshold of FJD $1,000, normal customs duty rates will apply along with VAT.

We’re pleased to share that certain personal items will remain VAT-free upon import to align with zero-rated domestic goods.

📦 Are you looking to import goods for personal use? Make sure you're aware of the conditions to qualify for Concession Code 212. Here's what you need to know:

1️⃣ Goods must not exceed the value of FJD$2,000.00.
2️⃣ Goods must be imported via sea freight, parcel post, or air freight.
3️⃣ Goods are for personal use only, not for sale or commercial use.
4️⃣ Goods must comply with Customs Prohibited Import and Export Regulation 1986.
5️⃣ Multiple parcels may be treated as a single parcel at the discretion of the proper officer.
6️⃣ All goods (except liquor and to***co) are eligible.

WHAT TO DECLARE?
📝 Fill out the Fiji Revenue Customs Services Declaration Form and submit it 48 hours before your consignment arrives into Fiji .

Key details to declare include:
- Description of goods
- Value
- Weight
- Quantity

📜 REQUIREMENTS:
- Joint ID Card
- Airway bill/Bill of Lading
- Commercial invoice
- Valid authorization letter for third-party collection
- Valid identification card

PERSONAL CLEARANCE:
💼 Imported goods must not exceed $2000 FJD, including CIF.
💸 Duty will be assessed on the excess value of goods if exceeding FJD $2000.

Remember, concession rates of import duty under this code are subject to conditions:
(a) Claim the concession at the time of importation.
(b) Goods should be addressed to a private individual.
(c) Goods should be used exclusively by private individuals.

Under Code 212 of the Customs Tariff Act, you can import personal effects up to the value of $2000 per consignee (Air freight & Sea freight).

However, this does not apply to commercial items, and also excludes the importation of liquor and to***co.

If the value of the goods is above $FJD $2000 duty is collected on the excess amount. The value for duty component is made up of cost, insurance & freight (CIF) and this is the value on which the customs duty is charged.

Are you looking to import a used Motor Vehicle?
You will need to ensure that all Used Motor Vehicles must meet the following conditions:
• Hybrid Vehicles - 5 years from the year of manufacture and Euro 4 compliant
• Diesel &Petrol passenger motor vehicles – 8 years or less from the year of manufacture and EURO 4 compliant.
• Goods vehicles – must be EURO 4 compliant.

Application requirements:
☑️Application letter
☑️Deregistration Documents/
☑️ Cancellation certificate or Export Certificate
• JEVIC report (for Australia, NZ & Japan imports)
• Technical Letter (for Singapore imports)
• Certificate of Compliance to Euro 4 standards if JEVIC or technical letter is not available in the country of importation
☑️ID (for personal importers)
• Authorisation letter (if applying on behalf of importer)
☑️ Once you have gathered the above documents you can email your application to tariff&[email protected] or lodge with your nearest FRCS office.
Please note that there is no fee for processing the import licence.
Brand new vehicles do not need an import licence. However, they must be EURO 4 compliant. Documentation for confirmation on EURO 4, upon request, must be made available to our Customs officers at the time of clearance.
