ALL HANDS ON DECK : : The Fiji Meteorological Service has named Cyclone Vaianu, with the system expected to reach Category 3 by midnight tonight.

For the past three days over the Easter long weekend, we’ve been preparing the marina for this expected storm. While the current track has it passing between Fiji and Vanuatu, we are anticipating significant squalls from the outer bands and are treating this seriously.

The marina is now in full cyclone mode, with our team busily hauling out boats, securing in-water vessels, and generally busting their butts to ensure everyone and everything stays as safe as possible.

PLEASE NOTE:
A cyclone briefing will be held for all vessel owners currently in the marina at 4:00pm today in the restaurant.

And speaking of the restaurant—
We are planning to close the restaurant tomorrow and Wednesday, reopening Thursday at 10:00am. During this time, the café will operate extended hours, with dinner service available and a limited menu.

Another full rerig successfully completed on a Privilege 454 here at Vuda Marina.

Completed by Pacific Yacht Rigging Services Pty Ltd, the mast remained stepped while all standing rigging was replaced with new wire and turnbuckles, fully swaged in-house. Spreaders were removed, sanded back due to paint peeling and corrosion, then refitted with new leather protection installed.

The rig has been fully tuned and is now in excellent condition—ready for the cruising season here in Fiji.
