I always enjoy just loitering with intent around Santiago after a Camino, the city holds in it’s heart so many emotions, prayers and thoughts of those who have walked the path.

Day 5, gently the Camino moves from the forest and sleepy villages into the hustle and bustle of the city.

Day 5, beautiful walk through ancient forest, but the heat my good lord. It’s always a joy when the cows 🐄 course a traffic jam. Right now the skies are turning dark, thunder can be heard the long awaited storm is coming.

Trail Angels what happened, top bunk 😱maybe I am doing penance for the luxury of last night but hey I have a bed.

Day 4 : Jesus, Mary, Joseph and don’t forget the donkey. After 25km and in 30C heat I arrived at the end of today’s stage Hospital de Burma. Both Albergue’s closed and no place to sleep. Do I walk a further 12km in this heat, do I sleep in the park or taxi to a nearby hotel, let me just say, my love and understanding for the Holy Family grew stronger as I had more options. The Camino provides.

Day 3 , Woke up this morning with Albergue / hostel fatigue, squeaky bunk beds, snoring, farting and don’t get me on the people with the headlights turning the dorm room into a early morning disco. Left earlier then planned, 1st a steep climb but then most wonderful walk 🚶‍♀️ maybe I just a grumpy old man.

Trail Angels 😇 you are amazing 😻 yes as you can see another one 🥰

Day 2 , today’s 10km went smoothly, even if I wanted to go further I had to stay put as in between stages on the English there is no accommodation. But I am able to rest, reflect and enjoy some good food. The English Camino is very different, it’s quiet very few pilgrims other then the occasional Buen Camino to the passing pilgrim I have not really spoken to anyone but it’s just what I need right now, Neil time with Neil. Again the Camino provides: Buen Camino.
