To miejsce bardziej przypomina pustynię na wysokości 3000 m niż wyspę na Atlantyku.
Teide National Park to jeden z nielicznych parków w Europie, gdzie krajobraz zmienia się tak drastycznie wraz z wysokością.
🌋 Wulkan Teide to nie tylko najwyższy szczyt Hiszpanii — cały ten masyw wyrósł z dna oceanu na ponad 7000 metrów.
🌡️ Powietrze jest tu tak suche i rzadkie, że organizm szybciej się męczy, nawet przy prostym spacerze.
🌿 A mimo tego, rosną tu rośliny, które przystosowały się do ekstremalnych warunków i nie występują nigdzie indziej.
To miejsce robi wrażenia od razu, ale im dłużej tu jestem, tym bardziej czuję, jak bardzo jest inne.

This is not what most people expect from an island.
Teide National Park feels more like a high-altitude desert than part of the Canary Islands.
The higher you go, the less life you see.
Eventually, it’s just volcanic rock, wind, and silence.
🌋 Mount Teide rises 3,715 m above sea level — but from the ocean floor, it’s over 7,000 m tall.
🌡️ The air up here is thinner and much drier, which is why even short walks can feel surprisingly demanding.
🌌 And at night, the lack of humidity and light pollution makes the sky unusually clear — one of the reasons observatories were built here.
It’s not dramatic in an obvious way.
But it stays with you.
