One of the funny things about living abroad is that going “home” starts to feel a little like traveling too.

This summer, we traded Spain for a few weeks back in the U.S., spending time in Philadelphia, New Jersey, South Carolina and Virginia. Family, friends, familiar places, favorite foods, road trips, and plenty of reminders of the life we came from.

If you’re opening a business in the US,
the first big decision is this:

LLC or Corporation?

Here’s the simple version 👇

If you’re starting:
• Consulting
• Coaching
• Online services
• E-commerce
• Small service business

An LLC is usually the easiest and most practical option.

But…

If you’re planning to raise investor money
or build a startup designed to scale big,

A corporation may make more sense.

There are legal and tax nuances — but for most people starting a small business, the LLC is the clean starting point.

Let’s talk about the part everyone tries to avoid…

If you’re living abroad and running a US business,

Spanish restaurants can trip people up immediately.

Waiters won’t hover.
They won’t check on you every 5 minutes.
And they definitely won’t rush you out the door.

Sounds amazing… until you’re sitting there wondering how to order.

In Spain:
• You have to ask for the menu.
• You have to ask to order.
• You absolutely have to ask for the bill.

And that’s not rude... it’s normal.

Meals here are meant to be enjoyed, not rushed. If someone pushes you out quickly? You’re probably in a tourist trap.
