Our stay of choice in the bay of Kotor was Boka di Mare in Tivat, a perfect quiet spot in Tivat from where we went on excursions by boat or car.

A little detour, a lot of wow. 💦 The Kravica Waterfalls tumble into a turquoise pool surrounded by green hills—one of those places where you stop taking photos for a moment and just listen.

A little detour south of Mostar led us to Bunski Kanal, where the Buna meets the Neretva through narrow channels and little cascades. Emerald water, rushing currents, and one more reason to slow down in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 💚🌊

Deep beneath a mountain near Konjic lies one of Yugoslavia’s most closely guarded Cold War secrets: Tito’s Bunker.

Built over 26 years, from 1953 to 1979, it was designed to shelter the country’s leadership in the event of a nuclear attack. Walking through its heavy doors, long corridors, communications rooms and living quarters feels like stepping into a future everyone feared and hoped would never arrive.

Today, contemporary art shares the space with its Cold War history. That contrast stayed with me long after we came back above ground.

A passage beneath an airport runway became a lifeline for Sarajevo during the siege.

Walking through the Tunnel of Hope today, it’s hard to imagine what it meant to the people who depended on it: a way to bring in supplies, to reach the outside world, and to keep going.

It’s a small space with an immense story. I left feeling grateful to have seen it, and mindful of the lives behind that story.

Mostar stays with you. The Stari Most arches over the Neretva, while the streets around it tell stories of beauty, loss and rebuilding. We came for the view and left thinking about everything this bridge has witnessed. 💙🇧🇦
