The PUR objective is to build cajons that are unmatched in terms of sound, quality and innovation.
* We only use certified woods and veneers.
* We guarantee a sustainable production process.
* EVERY Cajon passes through a strict quality inspection and is test played and sound checked. SOUND: In terms of sound PUR has moved away from the traditional Flamenco cajon. The focus lies on a distinct s
eparation of a crystal clear snare sound and a powerful bass, imitating a real drum kit. Furthermore, PUR cajons offer a multitude of sound possibilities - from the quick snare on and off mechanism, the play front and its clap corners, the playable conga-like backside to the sound chambers and the pitch converter. After passing a strict quality and sound check, PUR cajons are carefully packaged to guarantee safe transportation throughout the world. QUALITY: PUR carefully chooses all materials used in the production process - from different woods and veneers to varnishes etc. All components are handmade witch a continuous desire to improve every production step. In addition, PUR guarantees an environmentally sustainable production. INNOVATION: Just as important as quality is onnvoation and product development. Besides having Nikolaus Rhomberg on board, PUR closely collaborates with a number of percussionists. PUR can thereby choose its innvations from a large pool of ideas and inputs. THE MANUFACTORY: The PUR Cajon Manufactory is located in an 18th century manor house in Salzburg, Austria. Here the essential parts are produced and handled with great devotion to each and every detail. From producing and assembling the snare mechanism, to endless hours of manually grinding the play-front as well as the corpus and other parts. SNARE MECHANISM: The snare mechanism developed by PUR is integrated to all PUR Cajons. It allows you to switch the snare sound ON and OFF in seconds, no tools needed. By turning the start shaped handle you can influence the intensity of the snare sound to your personal liking or preference. PLAY FRONT: The play-front is an outcome of an extensive test phase. PUR focused on a play-front that reacts very sensitively to even the slightest hits, making long jam-sessions and effortless playing possible. CORPUS: The Corpus is composed of 11 layers of birch, in total 15mm thick, veneered with either maple or ash depending on the model. Eventually PUR discovered that this composition provides the sound they were looking for. All cajons are placed on skid proof rubber feet.
