📍Dornier 228 operations: Engine rigging
Engine rigging is the process of hooking up engines to an aircraft’s body and is an essential part of installing the engines. Well-rigged engines helps to keep the response from each engine identical whenever the levers are operated. This helps to lessen the pilot's workload.
It is a very tedious work that requires years of experience and to be familiar with the aircraft maintenance manuals (AMMs).

RUAG MRO International announced on 5 February that it is in the process of modernising two Dornier 228 maritime surveillance aircraft operated by the Royal Thai Navy (RTN).

Dornier 228 Earmarked For Medevac And Transport Of COVID-19 Vaccines
A new quick change medevac version of the Dornier 228 is being developed by the aircraft’s manufacturer RUAG, in response to demand from commercial operators and it is also developing a version that will include pharmaceutical fridges to transport COVID-19 vaccines.

🌎Where does your Dornier 228 bring you?
This Dornier 228 brings us to Tokyo city’s Chōfu Airport, the home of New Central Airservice ( ) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency ( ).
NCA is operates Dornier 228 scheduled services from Chōfu to four destinations in the sparsely populated Izu Islands, about 120km south of Tokyo.
JAXA uses the Dornier 228 as a flying test-bed to evaluate new aerospace technologies, such as fly-by-wire technology.

🧐Do you know what FusionProp is? It is a new study examining how to make turboprop aircraft even quieter
German Aerospace Centre (DLR) and GE Aviation scientists in Munich are doing tests to identify and measure noise coming from DLR’s Dornier 228. Researchers are monitoring the noise using equipment on the aircraft and on the ground below simultaneously.

The purpose of the FusionProp project is to determine how airframes, engines and propellers can be designed to make the aircraft quieter.
“Parameters that affect the noise generated by a are the rotational speed (the faster the blades rotate, the more noise is generated), flight speed, the amount of thrust required and details of the aerodynamic blade design,” says Lorenz Drack, lead engineer from GE Aviation Munich. "Under real flight conditions, the propeller noise generated is further complicated by aircraft altitude, turbulence, wind gusts, and effects resulting from the integration of the engine within the aircraft. testing helps us understand the complexities of the noise generated by propellers, which in turn allows us to optimise our models," he says.
Microphones have been installed on the Dornier 228 to record noise. The last photo depicts, using computer animation, the noise measurements from the DLR .
