Hey KDT Fam! 👋🏼 Did you know that a section of the Camino de Santiago runs right through Kaiserslautern? 👣✨

Most people think of the Camino de Santiago as something far away in Spain or Portugal — but one of the historic pilgrimage routes actually passes through Germany, including our very own KTown, before continuing west through France and eventually toward Spain.

Brent’s sister is currently preparing for her own journey along the Camino Portugués, one of the most beloved Camino routes stretching through Portugal into Spain toward Santiago de Compostela. 🥾

While she was visiting, Brent and Margaret decided to join her on a few of her training hikes… and look what they found along the trail — official Camino markers right here in the KMC! 🤯💛

The Camino (or “The Way”) has been walked for over a thousand years by pilgrims, travelers, adventurers, and people simply searching for clarity, healing, faith, or challenge.

Today, people from all over the world still walk these ancient routes carrying only what they need on their backs, meeting strangers who quickly become friends along the way. 🥾

There was something special about realizing that this centuries-old trail quietly weaves through the forests and villages we drive past every day. 🌳

It made us stop for a moment and think about how connected Europe really is — and how much history exists right beneath our feet here in Rheinland-Pfalz.

Now we’re officially tempted to walk a larger section someday ourselves. 👀

Have any of our KDT Fam ever walked part of the Camino? Which route would you choose? 🇵🇹🇪🇸🇫🇷🇩🇪

✨The Stolzoff dancers (yes — even Brent 😍) will be back on stage in just THREE weeks! ✨

Hey KDT Fam — we’d truly love for you to come experience this beautiful production by Balletschool "Ballet Dimension" and support local dancers of all ages from our community. 💐🩰

This year’s performance features the enchanting ballet Fairy Doll — a whimsical story set inside a magical toy shop where elegant dolls secretly come to life after closing time. Filled with charm, imagination, beautiful classical dancing, and nostalgic wonder, it’s a ballet the whole family can enjoy. ✨

The second act features the exciting Paquita Grand Pas — a brilliant showcase of classical ballet inspired by Spanish flair, featuring vibrant choreography, sparkling variations, powerful technique, and high-energy performances. 💃🌹🇪🇸

Our entire family has spent months rehearsing alongside the incredible dancers of Ballet Dimension, and it would mean so much to share this special weekend with our KDT community. ❤️

🎟 Tickets available at the studio and at the door! We hope to see some familiar faces in the audience cheering everyone on!

🇩🇪 Things We Love About Germany: Part 2
Hey KDT Fam 👋🏼 One of the biggest adjustments when we first moved here… everything is closed on Sundays. 😅

At first, it felt inconvenient. No quick grocery runs, no last-minute errands, no busy shopping days. But over time… we’ve completely fallen in love with it. 😍

Sundays here are different. They’re slower. Quieter. More intentional. It’s a built-in pause — a day that gently reminds you to step away from the rush of the week and just be. Whether that means getting outside, going for a walk, enjoying nature, spending time with family and friends, or even just having a peaceful day to yourself.
There’s something really special about a whole country collectively slowing down. 🤍

Now, instead of seeing it as an inconvenience, we see it as a gift: A day to reset. A day to connect. A day to appreciate the little things.
And honestly… we wish more places did this. ✨

Do you enjoy these slower Sundays? Comment below ⬇️

Happy Sunday, Fam! ☀️ Enjoy your Sunday!

Hey KDT Fam 👋🏼 We just hit 17,000 followers… which is kind of wild to us! 🤯

We’re not influencers.
We’re not paid to do this.
We just genuinely love getting out, exploring this area, and sharing our adventures.

Somewhere along the way, this platform turned into a special community and that part means more to us than anything.

So thank you for being here, for following along, and for being part of this with us! ❤️

🌷 Hey KDT Fam 👋🏼 Frohe Ostern ✝️🐣

One of our favorite little spring traditions in the KMC is picking our own tulips. We go every year around Easter, and it always feels like the perfect way to welcome spring in Germany. 🌷

Right now there are a couple pick-your-own tulip fields open where you can stop and cut your own flowers:

🌷 Near Mackenbach
🌷 Near Ramstein / Ramstein-Miesenbach

Many of these are “Blumen zum Selbstschneiden” fields — meaning you walk into the flower field, cut the tulips you like, and pay at a small honor-system box. It’s usually very affordable and such a fun activity for kids.

A few tips if you go:
• Bring coins or small bills
• Bring your own scissors/shears — though many fields also have some available for visitors to use
• Wear shoes you don’t mind getting muddy
• Bring a bag or bucket for your flowers

💡 Pro tip: If you want to find more nearby, search Google Maps for
“Blumen zum Selbstschneiden” or “Blumen selber pflücken.”
You’ll often find little roadside flower fields popping up all over Rheinland-Pfalz throughout spring and summer.

Sometimes the best adventures are the simplest ones — a field of flowers, fresh air, and tulips on the kitchen table. 🌷

Wishing you a beautiful spring week with your family and friends!

🚨 PFALZ WILDLIFE ALERT 🚨

KDT Fam - Several hikers and residents have reported sightings of a small spotted wildcat roaming near Landstuhl and surrounding areas of the Pfälzerwald over the past 24 hours ‼️

Local forestry officials believe it may be an escaped “micro-leopard” — a rare exotic cat occasionally kept by private breeders in Germany.

Witnesses describe the animal as:

🐆 extremely agile
🐆 capable of climbing or jumping onto surprisingly high surfaces
🐆 unusually curious about backpacks, snacks, and shiny objects
🐆 fearless and possibly overconfident

Early reports suggest the animal may also have a tendency to follow hikers for snacks and attention.

Authorities say the animal is not considered dangerous, but residents are advised to:

• secure fragile household items
• avoid sudden movements
• under no circumstances open a bag of treats

If you encounter the animal, remain calm and avoid direct eye contact.

Several sightings have already been reported this morning near Landstuhl.

⬇️ If you think you’ve seen the micro-leopard, report your sighting in the comments so we can track its movements across the Pfalz.

🇩🇪 Things We Love About Germany — Part 1

Hey KDT Fam! 👋🏼 One of the best parts about living here in the Kaiserslautern area is learning to appreciate the little things that make Germany so special.

From peaceful forest walks and charming villages to bakeries on every corner and castles looming over the hills — there is so much beauty in our little corner of the Pfalz. 🏰

Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in busy schedules or waiting for the “big trip”… but some of the best moments are right here in our everyday surroundings.

So we’re starting a little series: Things We Love About Germany — celebrating the small details that make life here unique and worth slowing down to enjoy.

✨ Part 1: A simple village moment — strolling down the street to pick up locally grown potatoes fresh from the farm for dinner tonight. Fresh, local, and one of those little everyday things that make life in Germany feel special.

What’s one thing you love about living in Germany?

KDT reality check… not every day trip goes according to plan. 😅

Today we headed to the almond blossoms in Gimmeldingen near Neustadt expecting the festival, pink blooms, hiking, and a lively little village. 🌸

We joined along on a day trip organized by another group and thought it would be fun to follow along for their adventure. 🥾

Instead… the festival was over, most of the blossoms had already bloomed, it was snowing and raining, and everything was closed. 🚫

BUT — travel has a funny way of working out. We found one cozy winery still open, grabbed a table, and ended up spending a few hours enjoying great food, good drinks, and even better company with our crew at🍷 Unique by Weinland Königsbach

What started as a bit of a misadventure turned into a fun little outing filled with laughter, good humor, and making the best of the day.

And honestly, this is part of the real day-trip experiences — sometimes you just have to roll with it and see where the day takes you.

Just a reminder that sometimes the destination doesn’t make the day — the people do! Sometimes the unexpected plans become the best memories. ✨

🌷 KDT Fam 👋🏼 — have you ever been to the famous Keukenhof Tulip Festival in the Netherlands? 🇳🇱

🌷 Known as the “Gardens of Europe,” Keukenhof will be open for visitors March 19 – May 10, 2026, and we highly recommend getting tickets early because popular dates sell out quickly. 🎟️

Brent actually surprised Margaret with a visit for her birthday a few years ago, and the photos you see here are from that trip and another trip the year after. 📸

The moment you walk through the entrance, you immediately understand why the gardens attract hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. 🌸

When we visited in April, the tulips were in full bloom — truly a spectacular sight to see! 🌷

If you’re visiting with kids, stop by the information desk and ask for the free scavenger hunt. The Lovelies absolutely loved it! Kids search the gardens for clues and can turn in their completed map for a small prize at the end. 🎁

Aside from the scavenger hunt (and stopping to smell nearly every tulip 🌷), the Lovelies also enjoyed the petting zoo and exploring the colorful garden displays. Toward the back of the gardens you’ll find a large playground and maze, plus food trucks! 🍽️

We ended up relaxing among the flowers for quite a while while the kids played on the zip line and playground.

For our trips, we stayed in an Airbnb along a canal near the iconic 18th-century Kinderdijk windmills, about an hour away from Keukenhof. It made for a beautiful little Netherlands getaway.

🌷 Kinderdijk Windmills: One of the most iconic windmill landscapes in the Netherlands and a UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s about an hour from Keukenhof and absolutely beautiful to walk or bike around.

🛶 Stay along the canals: We stayed in a lovely Airbnb along a canal nearby and loved experiencing a little bit of the Dutch countryside. DM or comment below for details on where we stayed! 😉

🌼 Explore the surrounding flower fields: In spring the countryside around Keukenhof is filled with colorful tulip fields — perfect for scenic drives, bicycle rides, and photos.

🍟 Dutch snacks are a must: Be sure to try pommes / frietjes with sauces and other traditional Dutch treats while visiting.
