With Mario and Amelia, we crossed Colombia following the invisible thread of birds from the Amazon to the rainforests of the Choco Biogeographic region and the mountains of the Central Andes.

What began as a birding journey became a beautiful exchange of stories, knowledge, culture, and friendship.

Because in the end, beyond the species added to a list, what truly remains are the shared moments and the connections created along the way.

This chapter of our journey took us into the heart of the biogeographical choco

From the lush forests of San Cipriano to the emblematic stop near Dagua, every moment reminded us why this region is one of the most vibrant and biodiverse places on Earth.

With Amelia and Mario, we followed rivers, walked through rainforest, and encountered birds as colorful as the landscapes that surround them.
But this part of the journey was also about people, flavors, and stories.

For three beautiful nights we were welcomed by .raices, whose hospitality, knowledge, and incredible cuisine reflect the true spirit of San Cipriano. Her kitchen, her famous viche curado, and the warmth of her hugs made us feel part of this territory.

The Chocó is not only a place you visit, it’s a place that embraces you through its birds, its culture, and the smiles of the people who call it home.

Here are 20 moments from this unforgettable chapter of the journey.

Este tramo de nuestro viaje nos llevó al corazón del Chocó Biogeográfico.

Desde los bosques exuberantes de San Cipriano hasta el emblemático lugar de Doña Dora, en Dagua, cada momento nos recordó por qué este territorio es uno de los lugares más vibrantes y biodiversos del planeta.

Junto a Amelia y Mario seguimos ríos, caminamos por selvas húmedas y encontramos aves tan coloridas como los paisajes que las rodean. Pero este capítulo también fue sobre las personas, los sabores y las historias que habitan este territorio.

Durante tres maravillosas noches fuimos recibidos por Mamá Yeya, cuya hospitalidad, conocimiento y cocina extraordinaria reflejan el alma de San Cipriano. Su gastronomía, su famoso curado ancestral y la calidez de sus abrazos nos hicieron sentir parte de este lugar.

El Chocó no es solo un destino que se visita…
es un territorio que te abraza a través de sus aves, su cultura y las sonrisas de su gente.
