CMA CGM restructures Asia to West Africa Central Range services
CMA CGM has announced a restructuring of its Asia to West Africa Central Range services,introducing a new three-loop configuration designed to strengthen coverage, capacity, and schedule reliability in the region.
Under the revised structure, the existing WAX service will be reorganised into two new dedicated loops, WAX1 and WAX2, complemented by the current WAX3 service, which will continue to operate with its existing rotation. CMA CGM said the reconfiguration reflects growing demand in West Africa and is intended to deliver improved transit times and more reliable connections.
The WAX1 service will operate on a rotation covering Qingdao, Ningbo, Nansha, Shekou,Singapore, Colombo, Abidjan, Lekki, Kribi, Colombo, and Vung Tau. The first sailing is scheduled to depart Qingdao on 30 March 2026, with CMA CGM ZEPHYR deployed as the first vessel.
The WAX2 service will also commence from Qingdao on 30 March 2026 and will operate via Qingdao, Ningbo, Nansha, Tanjung Pelepas, Tema, Abidjan, Pointe Noire, and back to Tanjung Pelepas. The first vessel on this loop will be MAERSK CAMPBELL.
The WAX3 service will remain unchanged, continuing to serve Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas,Lome, Apapa, Onne, and Cotonou.
CMA CGM said the revised structure is designed to better address the needs of West Africa's central range markets while maintaining seamless connectivity between Asia, Africa, and key transshipment hubs.
