First day of September — and we're already seeing the shift.

Compared to last week, cargo volumes from China to Europe are noticeably picking up. Rates are climbing. Space is tightening.

Earlier this week, we had a video call with several long-term clients from the Netherlands to map out their shipment schedules for September. They shared a rough timeline — we took it, built out our airfreight plan accordingly, and adjusted our block space agreements with carriers.

Added a few extra boards. Locked in the capacity early. And for each flight, we left 1-2 days of buffer — just in case the factory runs behind or something unexpected comes up.

We run daily departures from Shanghai to major European gateways — AMS, FRA, CDG, LGG, MXP. So we're in a good position to adapt quickly.

But here's what I'm curious about: why is the volume suddenly ramping up from September? Is it early Q4 stocking? Black Friday prep? Or something else I'm missing?

Would love to hear from my European colleagues — how's the market looking on your end? Are you seeing the same trend?

I got into freight forwarding for one reason.

I saw too many overseas forwarders struggle with the China side of the supply chain.

Not because they weren't good at their jobs. But because they didn't have someone on the ground in China who actually picked up the phone when things went wrong.

Customs delays. Capacity crunches. Last-minute changes. Cargo that needs to move NOW.

That's the reality of air freight. And it's exactly why Era Cargo exists.

We're not here to be the biggest forwarder in China. We're here to be the most reliable one for our partners overseas.

Own warehouses at PVG, SZX, CAN, PEK. Own trucks. Own customs team. One point of contact.

Because when your cargo is sitting on the tarmac in Shanghai, you don't need a sales pitch. You need someone who gets it done.

What's the one thing you value most in a logistics partner? 👇

South America Airfreight – An Early Peak Season Is Here

The Latin American cargo market has entered an early and intense peak season, putting supply chains across the region under severe pressure.

According to DHL's latest Air Freight State of the Industry report:
📦 Air cargo demand between Asia and Latin America grew 20% year-over-year, with average tariffs rising 27%
🚢 On the ocean side, vessel utilization on Asia–LatAm routes is near 98%, with the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index up 84% year-over-year — and rates to the Latin American West Coast up 126%

The impact: Key hubs like São Paulo (GRU), Santiago (SCL), and Buenos Aires (EZE) are facing localized bottlenecks. Lead times for shipments into South America are stretching to 10–14 days.

What this means for you:
🔹 Book early to secure space — last-minute options are shrinking
🔹 Expect continued upward pressure on rates
🔹 Work with a partner who has real capacity, not just promises

At Era Cargo, we're monitoring these trends closely and securing allocations in advance so our clients don't get squeezed.

South America Airfreight – An Early Peak Season Is Here

According to DHL’s latest Air Freight State of the Industry report, demand between Asia and Latin America has grown 20% compared to May 2025, while average tariffs have increased 27%. Routes to São Paulo (GRU), Santiago (SCL), and Buenos Aires (EZE) are under particular pressure as demand outpaces capacity.

What’s driving this surge?
🔹 South America is transitioning from an export-driven origin to a bidirectional trade hub
🔹 Nearshoring and rising domestic consumption across Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and the Andean region
🔹 E-commerce expansion and cross-border trade growth

The challenge: Container shipping on Asia–LatAm routes is at 98% capacity, with rates up 126% year-on-year. This is pushing more cargo to airfreight.

The opportunity: At Era Cargo, we’ve been securing allocations in advance so our clients don’t get squeezed.

South America Demand Is Outpacing Capacity – Here‘s What We’re Seeing

According to DHL‘s latest Air Freight State of the Industry report, airfreight demand between Asia and Latin America has grown 20% compared to May 2025, while average tariffs have increased 27%. The market is entering an early peak season, with demand growing faster than available logistics capacity.

Major gateways like São Paulo (GRU), Santiago (SCL), and Buenos Aires (EZE) are feeling the pressure. GRU in particular has been overwhelmed with high volumes, causing delays in gate schedules and cargo release.

What this means for you:
🔹 Book early to secure space – last-minute options are shrinking
🔹 Expect upward pressure on rates across the region
🔹 Work with a partner who has real capacity, not just promises

At Era Cargo, we‘re monitoring these trends closely and securing allocations in advance so our clients don’t get squeezed.

Saturday Spot: Which South American Airport Handles the Most Cargo?

If you guessed São Paulo(GRU) – you‘re right. It’s the busiest cargo hub in South America, handling over 1.2 million tons annually.

But here’s what many don‘t know:
🔹 Santiago(SCL) is the top gateway for Chile’s fruit and mining exports
🔹 Bogotá(BOG) is the strategic hub for Andean region distribution
🔹 Buenos Aires(EZE) leads Argentina‘s automotive parts imports
🔹 Lima(LIM) is rapidly growing as a telecom and manufacturing hub
🔹 Quito(UIO) handles high-value flowers and perishables

We fly to all of them. Same standard, every destination.

Have a great Saturday – and if you’re planning your next LatAm shipment, DM me anytime. I‘ll reply before you finish your coffee. ☕️

Safe Loading Starts on the Ground – Not Just in the Air.

When you see a cargo aircraft take off, what you don’t see is the hours of preparation that happened before.

At our Shanghai warehouse, every pallet is built with precision. Load distribution, weight balancing, and securing each box—these aren’t just routine steps. They directly affect flight safety, cargo integrity, and on-time delivery.

This morning, our team is preparing export cargo for Europe—including one shipment of automotive parts destined for Frankfurt. Each piece is weighed, wrapped, and positioned according to airline loading guidelines.

Why does this matter?

Improper loading can cause in-flight shifts, affecting aircraft balance.

Poor packaging leads to damage claims and delays.

Accurate documentation ensures smooth customs clearance at destination.

We treat every shipment—whether 50 kg or 5 tons—with the same operational discipline. Because in airfreight, safety isn’t optional. It’s everything.
