Good to keep the forge welding skills intact with this custom chef knife order. High carbon steel blade forge welded to a railroad spike handle. This one was really fun, might have to open up orders for a few more!

Here we go, day 1 of Íslendingadagurinn! I’ll be here all weekend and you won’t want to miss the show! Big vendor market, and of course the main draw is the Viking village you can walk through and experience, it’s definitely a great weekend, and free to attend!

Gotta keep machines in tip top shape. I frequently machine my belt grinder components to keep them running true, it makes a huge difference in how efficient and precise you can grind if your components are trued up regularly.

This component is the backing for the sanding belts when I grind my bevels, and I typically grind it flat weekly, but eventually it needs to be completely replaced, so time to machine a new plate to get me back to grinding!

Polishing handles, finishing with some 3000 grit Trizact pads on the orbital sander is the best way I’ve found to get the epoxy ready for the final buff

Handle sanding today. Can’t rush the Maple Burl/Epoxy handles, they’re definitely more challenging and time consuming than solid wood handles to polish, but we’ll get there!
