Our client wanted to keep his favourite reading chair, but after many years of use it was showing its age. Rather than replacing it, we sourced a local upholstery company, giving it a whole new life and allowing our client to enjoy it for many years to come.

This is one of the most emotionally honest videos of what it is like for a family member to clear out an estate. This one is compounded by the fact that it is a hoarding situation.

The emotions, the guilt, the grief for both the person that has passed away and for the normalcy that the woman in this video missed out on.

We have cleaned out dozens of estates over the years. We help by removing the garbage and sorting through what is fit to be donated. All personal items and valuables are returned to the family to keep.

We have worked with many adult children who have inherited full homes after their parents have passed away. From experience, I can tell you that happiness is not amongst the feelings that they were going through. They feel anxiety, guilt, and anger towards their parents for having to deal with the contents of their home.

Most people are already stressed with daily living. Adding the job of emptying the contents of a house and carrying the payments while grieving the loss of a parent is very hard to bear.

If you have the opportunity to declutter your home in your senior years, your children will appreciate it. Also have the “hard” conversation with them about the remaining contents and where you would like it to go. Have all your paperwork and affairs in order. All of this goes a long way to helping your family deal with the loose ends after you pass.

It is the greatest gift you can give them.
