Celebrating Lapu-Lapu Day in British Columbia ✨
A Message from the Philippine Bayanihan Community Centre
We proudly commemorate Lapu-Lapu Day, honoring the bravery, leadership, and enduring spirit of one of the Philippines’ greatest heroes — Datu Lapu-Lapu.
On April 27, 1521, in the historic Battle of Mactan, Lapu-Lapu and his warriors fiercely defended their homeland against the forces of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan. Lapu-Lapu’s victory remains a powerful symbol of Filipino resistance, sovereignty, and pride — values that continue to inspire generations across the world.
We are proud to share that the Province of British Columbia officially proclaimed April 27 as Lapu-Lapu Day, acknowledging the rich cultural contributions of the Filipino community and the enduring legacy of courage and resilience that Lapu-Lapu represents.
Here at the Philippine Bayanihan Community Centre, we invite everyone to celebrate this day as a reminder of who we are and what we stand for — wherever we may be in the world.
Let’s honor Lapu-Lapu’s legacy:
💬 By standing proud of our cultural identity.
🤝 By fostering unity and bayanihan in our communities.
🔥 By carrying forward the spirit of courage, freedom, and hope.
Mabuhay ang alaala ni Lapu-Lapu!
Mabuhay tayong lahat!
