I remember exploring old Mosquito Harbour on the backside of Meares Island with my dad when I was young and found rotting homes and broken pottery. This time we only found the rusty remains of large timber nails and fasteners.

My grandma, Bev Cook (Beverly Arnet) was born in Mosquito Harbour. It was so interesting to see what’s left and to image life as a Norweigan fisherman in the early 1900s.

Quality Foods was one of our very first retail stores outside of Tofino. We use to hand deliver from our garage brewery in our old Chevy delivery van. Years later, we have grown into a large scale commercial operation and are thankful for the continued support from for our local family run business.

Life is a balance between family, work, chores, adventures… and more work (and not falling off the SUP like I did last time).
We didn’t find any gold, but it was a beautiful day on the water, exploring forgotten places, paddling quiet creeks, and soaking up time together.
Too bad I forgot to take a photo of enjoying a kombucha on the boat ride back, guess we’ll just have to do it again
