Have you heard of Sundance Park?

The 2 green parcels of land in the middle of the picture belong to the town. I have seen a couple references to this area as Sundance Park, but nothing recent.

If you are the adventuring type, there are a few trails you can explore here. There is the remains of an old bridge from when Spinnaker Drive connected to Foxwood Lane, before either of those roads were named that I think. There is also a large, overgrown concrete slab, remnants of the Wood's Poultry Farm that used to be located here.

There are 3 ways to access this area, directly off of Keppoch Road from the north, or 2 points off of Sundance Lane from the east or the south. I would recommend the eastern entrance because it is not as overgrown.

I don't have this park on my Parks & Shore access map because it is not a typical park. If those are more your style you can check them out at www.stratfordmaps.ca

Did you know Stratford is Getting a Wellness Centre?

This is just a conceptual drawing, not actual blueprints, but still exciting to look at!

o Twin ice surfaces
o Cultural, social, arts and wellness spaces
o Indoor turf space
o Library
o Indoor walking track
o Youth and community rooms
o Multi-purpose spaces
o Administrative offices
o Outdoor/green connectivity features

Lots to look forward to! And the plan is for construction to start this year!

As soon as actual blueprints are public, I will post them here.

A different perspective of Town Hall.

Look closer and you can see the new high-school being built in the background.

With the warmer weather, you can expect to see more drone pictures from me in the future.

Here is a map not many people see.

This is the Strava Global Heatmap. It shows how frequently different routes are used by walkers, runners, cyclists, and more. You can filter by the kind of transportation you want to see. The darker areas are the most used.

This can be useful to see where other people tend to go. If you want to plan a bike trip in town you can see the routes other people frequently use, and the routes they avoid. Or you could discover a walking path that your neighbours use but you didn't know about.

Check out the Strava Global Heatmap on the resources tab of my website: www.stratfordmaps.ca

Check out the Stratford Community Garden!

I was trying to get a picture of Robert Cotton Park yesterday evening, but it was too windy. This was the best of the few pictures I got. I will try again soon.

The Community Garden is one of several resources on my Community Resources map. If you know of something else that should be on this map, please let me know!

You can check out my Community Resources map at www.stratfordmaps.ca

Is your rent too high?

Did you know there is a website where you can check what the monthly rent was for your apartment in the past. If your rent is significantly more than it was in the past, your landlord might be overcharging you. If you are overpaying your rent you can file a dispute and your landlord might be forced to lower your rent to the legal amount and pay you back!

If you are currently renting, or have in the past, be sure to add your information to the registry to help out future renters.

You can check out the website at: https://myoldapartment.org/

It is one of the many useful websites linked on my websites resources page: www.stratfordmaps.ca

Do you think Stratford need's a second bridge?
Do you think we need more or less roundabouts?
Do you think Stratford should be allowed to have more Crosswalks / Bike Lanes?

I attended this presentation last year and learned a LOT. I would highly recommend anyone with an interest in these issues to attend as well this year.

Stratford doesn't own it's own roads, so we don't have much power to influence many of the decisions made about them. This is one of the very few opportunities we have to speak directly to those who do.

Hey Stratford - Mark the date and plan to join so you are in the know, can plan ahead and even ask questions! This annual opportunity will inform the community about Provincial transportation projects to that will be taking place in and around Stratford.

All are welcome.

Have you explored here?

I recently had someone reach out to me to tell me about this little trail in Keppoch Park. I love hearing about new trails like this. There is so much to explore in Stratford.

Is there a trail or something else you know about that is not on my walking map? I would love to hear from you.

Check it out here at www.stratfordmaps.ca
