Experienced Excavator Operator

Ferris Trucking & Excavating is currently seeking a full-time experienced heavy equipment operator to join our team. Minimum 3 years’ experience – all other applications will not be considered.

In business since 1967, Ferris Trucking & Excavating is a family business located in Southern Ontario that has built its reputation on its commitment to excellence. We work in residential, commercial, and municipal settings and have expertise operating
in highly regulated, sensitive areas, including escarpment and shoreline.

Qualifications Include:
• 3 years minimum experience in commercial, industrial, and residential
foundation excavation, site grading, slab on grade prep, demolition, sewer,
water and septic system installation.
• Must have a valid G driver’s license as well as a clean driver’s abstract, and
criminal check.
• Must have reliable vehicle for transportation throughout the Georgian
Triangle.
• Ability to read plans and calculate elevations.
• Be able to perform daily maintenance on equipment.
• Ability to work independently or as a part of a team and follow instruction.
• Be knowledgeable about construction safety and follow ALL workplace safety
protocols.
• Capability and willingness to perform labor duties, lay pipe, shoot grade, and
do what it takes to complete projects.

Preference will be given to candidates with WHMIS certification, First Aid
Certification, and an ability to operate different types of equipment as well as level of mechanical inclination. This is a full-time, seasonal position running from the beginning of April through to the end of the year annually, with competitive wages.

General weekly hours are 50-60 hours per week with a willingness to work
Saturdays when required. Pay range of $25-$35 per hour based upon skill set.

Dear Customers, Colleagues, and Friends,

It is with mixed emotions that we write today to let you know that we will be closing our business this year. This means we will not be taking on any work in the 2019 season, but will honor any warranty work on recently completed projects.

We want to thank you for 52 years of business in this community. We value the relationships we’ve built and will miss the sense of accomplishment we get from working with others who care about quality workmanship. At the same time, we are looking forward to opening a new chapter in our lives. For John and Seeta, this means a retirement that will allow for more golf and time with family and friends. For Ian, this is an opportunity to pursue new endeavours and challenges.

Our business achieved it’s greatest success in recent years, due in part to the three-person leadership team we have. We simply could not picture the future of Ferris Trucking & Excavating without any one of us.

But none of this would have been possible without our incredible staff who have shown up every day fully committed to delivering on the gold seal promise we make to our customers. It has been great learning with you, growing with you, and laughing with you - even through the challenging times. We are here to support you in finding new opportunities in the industry that match your experience and professionalism.

Thank you one and all from the bottom of our hearts for helping us build a business and a career we are incredibly proud of. We know that the man who started it all in 1967 with a single backhoe, Cliff Ferris, would be equally proud.

We are grief-stricken to learn of the sudden passing of a great employee and friend - Luke Orsi. We send our heartfelt condolences to Kelly, Jacob, Sydney, and family. May you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you. Luke holds a special place in the hearts of his work family. He will not be forgotten.

Orsi, Luke Passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Arthur Luke Orsi of Markdale in his 48th year. Beloved husband of Kelly McMaster. Loving father of Jacob Talbot of Markdale and Sydney Talbot of Markdale. Dear son of Jack Orsi Corrine Gould of Tottenham and Judi Orsi of Alliston.

We're Hiring! Experienced Excavator Operator

Full time position effective immediately! With full-time employment through to Christmas.

Minimum 5 years experience.

Preferably able to run a variety of heavy equipment with an A class drivers license, but a minimum of a valid G class drivers license required.

Must able to perform minor checks as well as minor maintenance of the equipment and be capable of light labour.

Great long-term opportunity and the chance to operate some of the latest equipment on the market.

On September 9, 2017 we hosted an Open House to say thanks to all our friends, family, customers, and business allies who have helped us grow and establish a strong foundation here in Southern Georgian Bay.
