Bike Adjustments 101: Seat Height! 🚲
I cannot stress this enough—this quick 10-second adjustment can completely save your ride.

The amount of times people head off on an adventure and come back saying, “Man, my knees are killing me” or “I’ve got a twingey pain in the back of my leg...”
Nine times out of ten? It’s just your seat height.
The quick test: Put your heel on the pedal at its lowest point. Your leg should be almost completely straight. When you put the ball of your foot on the pedal to actually ride, you’ll have just a slight, relaxed bend in the knee.

Front of the knee hurts? Seat is probably too low.

Back of the knee twinging? Seat is likely too high.

It’s a super easy fix—just pop open the quick release, adjust, and lock it back down. It might take a couple of test tweaks to find your exact sweet spot, but trust me, taking 10 seconds to pull over is 100% worth it.

Your knees will thank you! 🙌

From someone who lives by the Atlantic… don’t wait for a “perfect” sunny day to get out riding bikes on the trails. The coast feels so good when it’s moody. The mist, the greens are greener and it all feels a bit magical.

The real win? Pulling up to Rose & Rooster cafe, wrapping your hands around a steaming hot coffee because it’s actually fresh out, and crushing a well-deserved muffin. 10/10 morning.

Summer is here and we want to inspire people to get out on their bikes. One of the biggest things we can offer is our practical experience.

Here’s the thing: After leading hundreds of guests on cycle tours across different continents, we’ve realized the secret to a long, beautiful day on the trail isn’t a $5,000 bike or the fanciest gear. It’s actually about listening to your body.

We’ve all been there: Day one, you’re set up and ready to go. But by 3:00 PM, a “pinch point” creeps in. Most people assume biking is just... uncomfortable.

The truth is: that’s your cue to adjust.
We believe that once your body settles into the ride, it tells you exactly what it needs. A couple of bolts and a few millimeters of movement can turn an “okay” ride into an “all-day” escape.

“It’s just bikes.”

That’s our motto, and the simplicity is the beauty of it. We don’t take them too seriously—they’re just fun, freedom, and the absolute best way to see a place. When we decided to open this rental business, we knew we wanted to keep that exact feeling at the center of everything.
So, in that vein... we know, we know. It’s July and we aren’t open yet.

The truth is, we packed up and went to Belgium on a family bike tour.

Honestly, it is definitely ill-advised given our short Nova Scotian season. But we believe that sometimes you just have to send it. You have to do the thing that doesn’t entirely make financial sense on paper, because timing is rarely ever perfect..

It was a total bucket-list experience to take our 1.5-year-old on a cycle tour. She isn’t getting any younger, and I deeply wanted to experience life on the road with her at this age. We knew if we didn’t do it right now, we would miss this fleeting window. So, caution to the wind, we went!

We flew across the Atlantic with all of our gear in tow to put it to the ultimate test, and to immerse ourselves in a world-class bike culture.

We’ll be sharing more of our trip, the chaotic moments, and what we learned in the posts to come. But for now, we can say with absolute confidence that our equipment is top-notch, family-safety approved, and ready for your own adventures.

Our timing might be a wee bit later than planned, but we are heading home and ready to get folks out on the trails next weekend.

Nice to meet you… 👋
We’re Hannah and Alex, and we are launching Salt Air Cycle here in Seaforth, Nova Scotia this summer. Since we only have just started, we wanted to introduce ourselves and put faces to the name!

For a little context, the two of us met years ago working as bicycle tour guides. We spent years leading cycle tours all over the world, but we completely fell in love with the Eastern Shore while working a season here. We loved it so much that we decided to pack up and make this our permanent home back in 2018.

Starting a rental business in our own backyard just feels like a natural next step. We have an incredible rail trail system right here, and we want to make it easily accessible for everyone. We’ve put together a fleet of both classic pedal bikes, e-bikes and kids cycle equipment like Thule bike seats, and trailers.
