🚍 Getting Ready for a New School Year! 🍎

Our SDIs, Lori Cooley and Nadine Young, are hard at work preparing for the new year! Meanwhile, our Training Department, Sharon Lawrence, Jen Marquez, Tammy Giles, and Pam Better are taking a quick 5-minute coffee break ☕ before heading out with our newest trainees!

There’s always lots happening behind the scenes to get our transportation team ready for another successful school year. 💪🚌

Yesterday was such a great day for our First Rider Program! 🚌❤️

We had the opportunity to welcome many families and show the importance of following school bus rules, making safe choices, and learning how to ride the bus safely. It was such a wonderful day of learning, connection, and fun!

We were also blessed to have our Trustee, Cynthia Leyson, stop by for a visit and pictures! 📸 Thank you for taking the time to support our students, families, and transportation team!

Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools is looking for a skilled and motivated Journeyperson Mechanic to join our Transportation team. If you are an Automotive Service Technician or Heavy Equipment Technician who takes pride in quality workmanship and wants a stable Monday to Friday schedule, we'd love to hear from you.

As part of our Transportation team, you'll help keep our fleet of school buses safe, reliable, and ready to transport students every day. We offer a supportive work environment, competitive wages, excellent benefits, and opportunities for ongoing training and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a fleet of school buses
Complete Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) inspections
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and air brake systems
Respond to vehicle breakdowns and emergency repairs as required
Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records
Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with provincial regulations
Work collaboratively with the Transportation team to maintain fleet reliability

Qualifications
Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician or Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate
Valid CVIP Licence (or willingness to obtain)
Experience repairing medium- and heavy-duty vehicles is considered an asset
Valid driver's licence (Class 2 with S Endorsement is an asset or willingness to obtain)
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
Own hand tools
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Tomorrow marks the first day of classes for our year round program at St. Patrick’s School.

As our transportation team gets back on the road, we wish our drivers, students, school staff, and families a safe and successful start to the new school year. May we approach each day with patience, kindness, professionalism, and a little sense of humor because we know the unexpected is always part of transportation!

Welcome back to our amazing St Patrick’s Community School school bus drivers! 🚌
Our drivers had their startup meeting today and are officially preparing for the new school year over the next few days.
They’ll be getting familiar with their buses , driving and timing their routes.
Will be contacting families to introduce themselves and confirm transportation details. 📱
Drivers will be completing their family calls by August 3.
We look forward to safely welcoming students back on Thursday, August 6 for the first day of school.
Here’s to a safe successful exciting school year.
