Wings Over T.O.

Wings Over T.O. Come along with me for flying adventures in my Beechcraft Sierra. Come along with me for flying adventures and lessons in my Beechcraft Sierra.

I'm a private pilot with a new instrument rating, flying for fun around our home base in Toronto and further afield in our 1977 Beechcraft Sierra. My videos go beyond sharing flying footage, and I try to add insights and information that others will find interesting. I use these videos to solidify my learnings for myself as I become more proficient as a pilot, and to hopefully entertain and inform

others along the way. www.wingsoverto.com

Keep in mind that I am not a flight instructor, and nothing in my videos should be considered a formal lesson of any kind. If you’re interested in leaning to fly or in brushing up on your skills, please reach out to a qualified instructor near you.

Hey everyone, it's Kamal here. I thought I would take a couple minutes and talk about the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association, or COPA. They're having their board of directors election this spring, and I've decided to throw my hat in the ring and run for a position as a director. I want to take a minute and just lay out my case, and talk about why I'm running, and why I think I would be good for this role. So, let's talk about general aviation. General aviation in Canada is.

Voting runs from March 30 to April 10. COPA will be sending out an email with voting instructions before then.

We wrapped up our Boston trip with this leg home from Rome, NY, bouncing in and out of clouds for the first hour as we made our way through northern NY state. There's something peaceful about flying in clouds - as long as there's no turbulence! - and I really enjoyed this flight.

Why I'm running for the COPA Board - and asking for your support

Hello fellow COPA member and aviation enthusiast,

As you may have seen in COPA’s recent email, I’ve put my name forward as a candidate for the Board of Directors representing Southern Ontario. I’m writing to ask for your support.

Some of you I know personally; others I’ve connected with through my YouTube channel, Wings Over T.O. (https://youtube.com/wingsoverto). If you’ve watched my videos, you know how deeply passionate I am about flying and about the future of general aviation. I decided to run because GA in Canada is facing real headwinds, and I believe we need fresh voices, new ideas, and strong advocacy to ensure it continues to thrive. As a private pilot and aircraft owner (a Beechcraft Sierra hangared at CYOO), I’ve experienced many of these challenges firsthand and would be excited to work with Canadian Owners and Pilots Association and its members to improve access, support, and opportunity for all of us.

So, why me? Over the past 30 years, I’ve worked across tech, healthcare, and commercial real estate, and I’ve served on numerous for-profit and not-for-profit boards. Along the way, I’ve developed deep experience in governance, communications, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning. I’ve led startups, worked as a management consultant in both Canada and the U.S., and currently serve on the board of the Beech Aero Club (the global type club for my plane). As a 500-hour, IFR-rated private pilot, aircraft owner, and someone who has flown extensively across central Canada, the eastern U.S., and the Bahamas, I have a practical, firsthand understanding of the issues facing Canadian GA pilots today.

Whether or not you’re currently a COPA member, I’d love to hear from you. What would you like to see improve in Canadian general aviation? Where should COPA focus its advocacy efforts? And how can it better deliver on its mission for pilots and aircraft owners?

If you are a COPA member, I would truly appreciate your vote. If you’re not, I’d be grateful if you would consider sharing this message with someone who is. The election period runs from March 30 to April 10, with voting instructions to be sent directly to members by email.

Thank you for your time and support. I hope to cross paths with you at an airport somewhere this flying season.

Warm regards,
Kamal

On the third leg of our trip to Boston last summer, we flew IFR from Bedford, MA to Rome, NY, where I shot the ILS into runway 33. I don't often get to do ILS approaches, so this video includes most of the approach itself as a bit of a debrief and review of the approach and how it works in my plane. Although the last bit of the flight and the approach were in VMC, I chose to do the full approach for practice. I hope you enjoy it.

Nearly 25 years after I started my aviation journey by taking some flying lessons in the Boston area, I finally had a chance to fly back to where it all started. Join me as we fly from Burlington, VT to Bedford, MA and I get to land back at the same field where I started flying with the East Coast Aero Club in 1998.

One of the great joys of general aviation is being able to take friends up for a new experience. Sometimes it's being in a small plane for the first time. Sometimes it's seeing familiar sites from a new perspective for the first time. Join us as we take one of M's oldest friends up for a flight around downtown Toronto!

It’s not often I get to see my plane flying from the outside. I went out to the airport yesterday to do a few circuits and apparently a plane spotter with a YouTube channel was there to film it. Thanks Viper!

Last leg home from New Orleans, and it just wouldn't feel right without more low clouds to contend with. These ones delayed our departures from Erie for 8 hours before clearing up enough to let us head north - and even then, we had to stay much lower while crossing the lake than I would have liked. Join us for the final video from our big trip to Nashville and New Orleans.
