I’m so grateful and excited that LITTLE LEAF has been nominated for the JUNO Award for Children’s Album of the Year.

Congratulations to all of this year’s nominees. The JUNO Awards celebrate the richness of Canada’s music community, and it means so much to have LITTLE LEAF recognized alongside such wonderful peers.

In 1943, the world-renowned Los Angeles Philharmonic welcomed Frank Sintra to the Hollywood Bowl, marking a defining moment in American popular music. These recordings, restored by Harry Hess / HBomb Mastering from the original sources, capture his early rise as a concert artist.

One of New Orleans’greatest bands was The Meters, which put the Big Easy on the map as a funk and R&B capital in the 1960s and ’70s. The group began as an instrumental quartet, cutting eight studio albums between 1969 and 1977. Although they were never officially captured live on record during that time, in 1981 after the group had split, an obscure label called REG Associates released an LP called At Rozy’s which presented a performance supposedly taped at a New Orleans nightclub in December 1976. Recent research, however, reveals that the concert was recorded the previous year at a different venue: San Francisco’s prestigious The Great American Music Hall. Newly remastered from the original ¼”master tapes, the performance–including material not heard before–is now presented in full for the first time. It captures The Meters in their prime, giving the listener a front-row seat to witness up close one of the most dynamic funk and soul bands ever.

A mysterious Canned Heat album known as Live at Topanga Corral was released towards the end of 1970 to little fanfare or notice by music publications. Purporting to be an early live performance, serious Canned Heat fans saw Live at Topanga Corral in the record racks and snapped it up. Years later, the truth became known: the album was recorded in 1968 Live at the Kaleidoscope in Hollywood, California and not at the Topanga Corral as the original title suggested but the Heat is on fire at the Kaleidoscope. All tracks have been masterfully restored by Harry Hess / HBomb Mastering from the original source.

Clear Light, Dark Matter: Big Hits and Near Misses is a career retrospective that reveals the many layers of Wang Chung’s music.
