Custom Roof Tent Fl**ge ⛺️

I needed a custom pass through fl**ge for our carbon fiber hard sided roof tent so I scanned the roof opening using the 3DeVOK MT scanner, modelled in fusion and printed in 6 pieces on the H2S and H2C 3D printers using ASA filament. We then adhered the pieces with ASA slurry, sanded and painted, then installed the D-ring gasket. Interior trim ring on the way as well as solar and roof deck!

Every inch counts! 👀

With the inside of the Sprinter only being 6’4”, we needed to ensure our hydronic floor remained as low profile as possible… SO we designed our own hot wire XPS cutter to slice 1” boards down to 0.8” making our total floor thickness 1 1/8” (3/8” Baltic birch wood as subfloor) 🤓

THIS IS HOW WE DID IT ⬇️

1. String 24AWG nichrome resistor wire between two screws set to the height you want your foam board to be sliced to. One end should be wrapped multiple times so that it remains secure. The other end should be looped only once around the screw— leave extra wire on this end for you to clamp with pliers

2. From the variable power supply, clamp the positive end next to one screw and the negative end to the other.

3. Create tension on the wire using insulated pliers. Turn the power supply ON and keep applying tension as the wire will slacken once current is passing through. THE WIRE IS HOT!!!

4. Carefully and slowly push your XPS through the hot wire

⚠️Note: The fumes released from burning XPS are toxic so this needs to be performed in a well ventilated area and/or with appropriate PPE

GUYS! It took some trial and error but we are pumped with how it turned out.

3D Scan ➡️ Custom Switch Panel Mount📱

I removed the sunglasses holder and scanned the console using the 3DeVOK MT scanner in IR Hybrid Alignment mode (no spray or markers needed), modelled in fusion 360 and printed on the Bambu Lab H2S at 0.2 mm layer height using sirayatech ASA-GF. I ordered the blank can bus switch panel from Sonne Power and engraved using the laserpecker LP5 fiber laser. This switch panel will control all of our exterior lights via relays on the Pekaway In Out X Pro.

I’m working on adapting the mount to fit other switch panels - let me know if you might be interested in one for your van!

We needed a trim piece for our sprinter rear step so I used the 3DeVOK MT scanner in IR Hybrid Alignment mode (no spray or markers needed), modelled in fusion 360 and printed on the Bambu Lab H2S at 0.2 mm layer height using ASA. Engraved using the LP5 fiber laser.

Vinyl Sheet Flooring For Shower Walls! 🚿🤔

We know how important it is to minimize weight while being mindful of thorough waterproofing in a wet bath. This sparked an idea— sheet vinyl shower walls. This is a technique we have used for all of our van conversions and we still LOVE it.

… The pull out toilet is hidden out of sight and, more importantly, out of the way behind a gasketed hatch. Mounted on 500lb drawer slides, you can be sure it isn’t going anywhere!

Materials used for shower walls:

- 2x3 framing and 1/4” baltic birch for the walls
- Sheet vinyl flooring glued using Mapei Ultrabond ECO 350
- 1/8 FRP inside corner
- SILICONE all seams and junctions
- Acudor 18”x 18” gasketed hatch

Carbon Fiber Hard Sided Roof Tent ⛺️🚐

When we decided to build a seat 4 sleep 4 family van we knew we needed more space. We found a manufacturer overseas tha was working on this hard sided tent. 💪🏼

Made of 15 mm Carbon Fiber skinned PMI foam core panels, it is strong, lightweight, and insulated ❄️ Time to modify our .ca roof rack and get it mounted.

We needed quicker access to our dry flush toilet so I used the 3DeVOK MT scanner in IR Hybrid Alignment mode (no spray or markers needed), modelled some custom k***s in fusion 360 and printed on the HK3 Ultra in K+ resin. I engraved using the LP5 fiber laser. This makes opening our gasketed hatch so much easier! 🚐
