A ride can look simple from the outside.

But sometimes that ride is what makes the rest of the day possible.
An appointment. Coffee with a friend. A community event. Shopping. An activity you don’t want to miss.

Accessible transportation helps create the opportunity to participate — and that’s why the High River HandiBus is about so much more than a bus.

Meet Candisse McCormick.

Candisse joined the High River HandiBus Board in September 2026 with a focus on social media and fundraising.

As a lifelong power wheelchair user, Candisse understands firsthand how important accessible transportation is to independence, connection and participation in the community. With a background in events, fundraising, communications and accessibility consulting, she joined the board to help more people understand the impact of the HandiBus, strengthen community support and help protect accessible transportation for the future.

Accessible transportation is about much more than getting from Point A to Point B.

It can mean getting to an appointment, meeting friends, participating in an activity, running an errand or simply being able to say yes to being part of the community.

The ride is the service.

Connection, independence and participation are the impact.

That’s why community transportation matters.
