Magic of Colombia with Garth and Meridel - Final Days!

The last couple of days have been incredible as this Colombia adventure begins to wind down!

Yesterday brought Garth and Meridel to the colourful communities of Magangué and Calamar, where they experienced a different side of Colombia through its wildlife, local traditions, historic sites, and everyday river life. It was another reminder that some of the most memorable travel experiences often happen in places many travellers have never heard of.

Today they visited Santa Barbara de Pinto, a charming riverside town where friendly locals, colourful streets, and authentic Colombian culture offered yet another glimpse into the heart and soul of this remarkable country. They've shared some photos from their visit so you can experience a little of its charm for yourself.

Tomorrow they arrive in Cartagena and disembark the ship, bringing this unforgettable journey along the Magdalena River to a close. While they are excited to explore Cartagena, it is hard to believe this adventure is almost over.

From vibrant music and fascinating history to welcoming communities, beautiful scenery, and unforgettable experiences, Colombia has truly captured their hearts. It is a destination full of surprises, rich culture, and genuine warmth. Magic of Colombia with Garth and Meridel

Garth and Meridel are currently exploring the magic of Colombia aboard the beautiful AmaMagdalena, sailing along the legendary Magdalena River and discovering a side of Colombia that many travellers have yet to experience!

The adventure kicked off on Saturday in Barranquilla with an incredible Carnaval celebration exclusive to AmaWaterways guests. Think colourful costumes, lively music, dancing, and nonstop energy. Quite the welcome to Colombia!

Over the last couple of days, they have been visiting riverside villages, meeting locals, discovering regional traditions, tasting local flavours, and soaking up the unique culture and atmosphere that make this part of the country so special. And of course, the AmaMelodia itself has been a highlight. The ship is absolutely beautiful, with stylish spaces, fantastic food, relaxing lounges, and amazing river views everywhere you turn.

Today, they are exploring the colonial town of Mompox, one of the true gems of the Magdalena River. With colourful streets, historic churches, artisan workshops, and a timeless atmosphere, it feels like stepping into another world.

Still ahead are scenic river cruising, wildlife and birdwatching, cumbia music performances, and eventually the stunning city of Cartagena with its cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, and vibrant Caribbean energy.
