Closing off the last afternoon of Pickin 2026, is a Canadian native, but now resides in the Country Music hub of Nashville, Tennessee. Taking over the stage from Marie, is "Sean Carson", a singer, songwriter and artist developer. From his humble beginnings in a small town in southern Ontario, he found his love of music. This love drove his ambitions to strive for a career in music, with his own style of authentic brand of real country music.
His father taught him to play the guitar and he never took a vocal lesson but rather his vocals are natural. He started his career, like many others in the music industry, playing with his family's band. Not only does he play the guitar, but also plays the harmonica, drums and bass.
In his career, he has played and travelled and toured with many country music legends. The first one to pop out at me was, Tanya Tucker, (she has been my country music idol since we both were13 years in1972). Some of the other legends were, Neil McCoy, Clay Walker and Johnny Lee. Performing with these talents and being able to showcase is own talents, he has played on the Grand Ole Opry, The Jay Leno Show & toured with the USO, that took him 1/2 way around the world.
This year, he was nominated for the 12th Annual Josie Awards for Independent Artists, for" Male Vocalist of the Year", held in September, at the Grand Ole Opry. He won International Band of the Year twice, with #20 & #5 Indie Chart Songs. He was also nominated for Tennessee Songwriter Award.
Pickin's good friend and host of Bluewater Radio 91.3 FM, Roz Rocking Country Show, Kevin Raszmann featured Sean with a live interview and featured his single, "Gentle Giant, from his Second Time Around album. He penned this song about his mom, who he had a special connection to. I think many of us could find parts of this song we could relate to.
This past year, he has been extremely busy travelling and touring and preforming at various venues in Tennessee, Georgia and beyond. Just to list a few: The Milepost 42 in Dickinson, Tennessee, Grinder's Switch Radio Hour in Centerville, Tennessee, Catecay Vineyards in Ellijay, Georgia & Music City Bar, in Nashville, and so many more I couldn't possibly list them all. He also plays and records his own music under the Label of "Carson's Corner Music Group at Music City Tracks. Some of his albums and songs are: Gentle Giant, Second Time Around, My Life, My Kinda Kool, She's Out of My Hands, No Fault No Blame & A Father's Love.
Sean can be found on You Tube, Facebook's Sean Carson-Country Music, seancarson.net, TikTok, Spotify, Apple Music (yep on my playlist), seancarsoncountrymusic.com and Instagram.
Sean is planning to bring some t-shirts to sell, so pop over to the Merchandise Sales Pop Up and get a shirt or 2 and to say hi!
Sean will be joining us on Saturday July 4th at 4 pm after he arrives from The Hollyrood Country Jamboree in Corbyville where he performs on the Friday. His music and style will bring you back to a simpler times in traditional country music. Sean loves to interact with the crowd, so make sure to make some noise to let him know you are listening, as his favorites part of entertaining is making the people have a good time.

Okay friends. I would love to see my friend Seth Ryan win this! Please vote!

We are extremely happy to have London's singer songwriter "Marie Bottrell" join our house band again on Saturday July 4th at 3 pm. In record time, she will have the crowd heading to the dance floor. She is always a fan favorite as she loves to greet her fans after her set whether is is just coming off or watching following acts in the crowd.
In 2023, Marie celebrated 50 years in the Canadian Country Music Industry. How can that be, you say? Well, she started singing, at the age of 11 years, with her family band. Whitestone and Bridge County Band. Like many performers, she started honing her career in legions, dance hall etc.
Her 1st of 5 albums, came out in 1978 At the age of 17 years. she was recording with the Mercey Brothers Label and then later with RCA and Cardinal Labels.
With a positive reaction to "Reach Out & Touch Me", it lead to an invitation to perform with the 1978 Grand Ole Opry Canadian Tour.
Hence rewarded with a nomination at the RPM Country Awards in 1978, for Outstanding New Artist after her 2nd single flew up the charts. In 1983, she was voted by the fans of Country Music New as Female Vocalist of the Year Fan Award. But her achievements did not end there, she won Outstanding Female Performer from 1979 to 1986. She went on to have 4 Juno nominations and 1983 and 1984's Canadian Country Music Awards Female Vocalist of the Year and then the biggy!! In 2010, she had the huge honour of being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
In all, 18 of Marie's singles, made the RPM Country Tracks Charts and 5 of them TOP Ten. Even though her recording career got stalled in the 80's, thankfully the issues were resolved and she started recordeing again in the 90's.
Marie has opened for Lee Greenwood and Marty Robbins and sang with Tammy Wynette and Tom T Hall. She appeared on the Tommy Hunter Show, Ronnie Profit Show and many more.
I have had the pleasure of going to some of her many own productions like, Patsy Clyne Tribute, Rock of Ages. A Gospel Show and many more over the years, not knowing then that I would actually get to meet her many times over. In April of 2020, I felt comfortable enough to arranged for her to come to Cargill to do a fund raiser for the CDCF contribution to the Community Center's new Entrance section. Unfortunately Covid had other plans. Along with her productions, I have seen her in The Travelling Barn Dance Show, The Larry Mercey Trio Shows but never did get to the Commercial Tavern where she also preformed. Of course like most entertainers, she has played at various Jamborees and Festivals.
Only because I am Co-Chair of the IPM 2026's Entertainment Committee, I know that she will be performing at the Bruce County Plowing match sometime in it's 5 day run. Schedule has not been confirmed by the upper powers yet. Stay tuned.
I know Marie is on Apple Music as she is on my Shuffle List and she can be found on You Tube also.
So join me and the Pickin crowd at 3 pm, Saturday July 4th, as Marie takes over the stage from her friend Larry Brennan. With any luck, their might be a duet from the, Time will tell.
