Look what I found in my Disney drawer…

An old Fort Wilderness Gazette.

Back before smartphones, apps, and mobile ordering, guests would pick up one of these to see everything happening around the resort.

As someone who grew up going to Fort Wilderness, finding this brought back so many memories.

A lot has changed over the years, but Fort Wilderness will always feel a little like home to me. ❤️

Found this photo from one of our very first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 🎃

Cruella.
Jasmine.
And Lucas dressed as Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean, which he insisted was the coolest costume ever. 😂

Back then, I was just trying to keep everyone fed, dressed, and awake long enough for the parade.

I had no idea we’d still be talking about Disney vacations nearly 20 years later.

Looking at this photo reminds me that the magic isn’t really the rides or the fireworks.

It’s seeing these moments years later and remembering exactly how it felt.

My Disney hill I’ll die on…

A resort day is NEVER a wasted day. 🤷‍♀️

Some of my favourite Disney memories happened outside the parks.

Watching a Movie Under the Stars.

Taking a ride on the Skyliner just because.

A morning coffee by the pool.

Resort hopping with no agenda.

A quiet walk around the resort after dark.

Sometimes the best Disney days aren’t about how many rides you got on.

They’re about slowing down and enjoying the magic that’s all around you.

In fact, some of my favourite Disney memories happened when I wasn’t rushing anywhere at all.

Did you know you can recognize Cast Members right in the My Disney Experience app?

Years ago, Disney used to leave these cards in your resort room for guests to fill out. I came across this old one from a past trip and it reminded me just how much Cast Members are a part of the magic.

The attractions are amazing. The resorts are beautiful. But it’s often the Cast Members who turn a great vacation into a memory you’ll talk about for years.

You can submit a Cast Compliment right from the app when someone goes above and beyond to make your day a little extra special.

And trust me… those compliments matter 🫶🏼

I recently dug out a 1995 Walt Disney World Vacations guide and honestly, it feels like opening a time capsule.
✨ Disney Village Marketplace before Disney Springs
✨ Pleasure Island in its prime
✨ Disney-MGM Studios before it became Hollywood Studios
✨ Dixie Landings and The Disney Inn
✨ A brand-new All-Star Resort
✨ Typhoon Lagoon taking center stage while Blizzard Beach was still “coming soon”
✨ The early days of Disney Vacation Club

Maybe it’s the Disney kid in me, but I could flip through these pages for hours.
It’s wild to think that when this guide came out, Disney Springs didn’t exist, Hollywood Studios was still Disney-MGM Studios, and Blizzard Beach was still months away from becoming a guest favourite.

Every map, resort photo, vacation package, and park guide brings back memories. And somehow, all these years later, it still gives me the exact same feeling it did back then.
Pure Disney excitement. ✨
