We received $8,250 from the Social Security Board THANK YOU! to purchase Gabion Baskets and fill with stones/boulders donated by the Ministry of Works with assistance from Francis Black to transport from the quarry at Trio. With backs bent and eye on the goal we will reinforce Mr. Claude's house right up to my Tia Nelda one too yeah!!!...but we need sand bags desperately thousands of them and small tools shovel, wheel barrow, gloves. The idea is to build a wall about 20ft out in the first phase using the filled gabion baskets 8ftx4ft. We recently dumped boulders about 75ft out from Mr. Claude this bought us a little bit of time but Earl came strong and the winds are still above normal for too long these past months. Ok, so wall out we plan to fill with sand bag the 20ft fenced we will create using boats and Community Volunteers. BEL also donated the old poles from mile 31, now dah fu move them; I wrote to Ministry of Works CEO awaiting a response to provide a truck for us, could you believe one more hurdle we have to cut them up because they are 50ft lengths almost 3 ft wide. The poles will secure the Gabion baskets to allow for stacking them on top of each other, the water depth is at 4ft and greater. We have 25 Poles and they are diminishing by the minute because people are stealing them for personal use cannot say I blame them...with EARL just gone lots more old poles laying around---REUSE REDUCE RECYCLE ABLE...NEED HELP TO
transport to Monkey River in time for the Gabion Baskets arriving next week. PLEASE SHARE this message our community of Monkey River Village request for support to save Mr. Claude's Home from Beach erosion...543-3454 663-8363 Kazerine Garbutt contact. Crocus sacks (old, new, recycled thousands)
