One Sand Bag at a Time Please Help Monkey River Village to Save Mr. Claude's, Tia Nelda, Curtis and Ms. Ellen's Family Home from Beach Erosion...One Sand Bag at a Time PLEASE. WE NEED:
1.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP The PEOPLE OF MONKEY RIVER to SAVE MR CLAUDE's HOME FROM BEACH EROSION

We are NOT asking for you to give us physical $ (cash), but give us your support by purchasing crocus sacks from the local chiney store for .25cents around the country; please drop off at any nearby gas station, BAHA office, local NGO office, Ministry of Agriculture office or send to Independence on any

James Bus heading South. CALL 543-3454 OR 663-8363 FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. One Sand Bag at a Time Please and help to share the word with your Family and Friends. For businesses who would like to help or individuals or groups - Prosser Fertilizer has 16,000 bags in stock for .70cents BZ each plus GST; discounted to support our cause. You can purchase in the name of the Monkey River Village Council directly and email us a copy of the receipt to [email protected], we will take care of transportation or we can collect from your Offices once it is more than 300 sacks. We received $8,250 from the Social Security Board THANK YOU! to purchase Gabion Baskets and fill with stones/boulders donated by the Ministry of Works with assistance from Francis Black to transport from the quarry at Trio. With backs bent and eye on the goal we will reinforce Mr. Claude's house right up to my Tia Nelda one too yeah!!!...but we need sand bags desperately thousands of them and small tools shovel, wheel barrow, gloves. The idea is to build a wall about 20ft out in the first phase using the filled gabion baskets 8ftx4ft. We recently dumped boulders about 75ft out from Mr. Claude this bought us a little bit of time but Earl came strong and the winds are still above normal for too long these past months. Ok, so wall out we plan to fill with sand bag the 20ft fenced we will create using boats and Community Volunteers. BEL also donated the old poles from mile 31, now dah fu move them; I wrote to Ministry of Works CEO awaiting a response to provide a truck for us, could you believe one more hurdle we have to cut them up because they are 50ft lengths almost 3 ft wide. The poles will secure the Gabion baskets to allow for stacking them on top of each other, the water depth is at 4ft and greater. We have 25 Poles and they are diminishing by the minute because people are stealing them for personal use cannot say I blame them...with EARL just gone lots more old poles laying around---REUSE REDUCE RECYCLE ABLE...NEED HELP TO
transport to Monkey River in time for the Gabion Baskets arriving next week. PLEASE SHARE this message our community of Monkey River Village request for support to save Mr. Claude's Home from Beach erosion...543-3454 663-8363 Kazerine Garbutt contact. Crocus sacks (old, new, recycled thousands)
2. A truck to transport the 20fth length old lamp poles from Mile 31 La Democracia, to Monkey River
3. Small tools, gloves, shovel, wheel barrow
4. Paint to brighten up Mr. Claude
5. VOLUNTEERS to come help us fill bags date to be announced

NOTE: All the sand we need is backed up at the river mouth, a few heavy machines would make it a breeze :)

Thank you
Melissa

SEA Rangers confiscated several nets during recently conducted patrols in and around the Placencia Lagoon. We would like to remind fisherfolk of gill net regulations.

don't you wish you can experience raising your child in a carefree clean environment? how can a people become so unimportant that organized assistance is not possible in Belize in this new age of organizations and global awareness...but oil is coming?, it is not here yet but a current environmental, social and human disaster is visible in plain as day and night, pictures, reports, phone calls, promises, cries, complaints, assessments, planning, reviewing, thinking WHO SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY to compile the report, provide the analysis and justification and financing for the People of Monkey River Village to receive some assistance? LIFE HAPPENS IN MONKEY RIVER VILLAGE
