No New York without Broadway show! So many to watch, so many to applause! Whether Tony awarded or nominated or not - there are so many talents to admire! Always contemporary even when classic - they touch your heart and make you feel something special about life, yourself, society..
Broadway is worth coming from other cities and continents! E.g. we come from Amsterdam :)
We were watching Dog Day Afternoon -
❤️ a drama about how far a man can go for love (some go for heist),
⚖️ drama about social injustice and disparity
🎭 tragicomedy about how bad and good guys might be not what they look like (side story of a romance with a nice guy who appeared to be married, or how hostages had more sympathy towards robbers rather than police..)
🫂 how our relationships have different values in each others life (imagine, cashing out your check every week with the same cashier - yet to be looked upon as an anonymous faceless customer..)
Small acts of daily interactions say it all about who and what we really are.
I can't praise enough amazing performance:
as Sal (one of the robbers) showed a lost&confused soul hoping and fearing for better life but who knows no other ways than low life..
as Sunny (main robber) showed what a compassionate loving man could be, who is sensitive and vulnerable and has a soft heart and who wants to be a caring person, and who has to be a man - take matters into his hands and manage the mess of his own and of his partner, to lead the situation. Everybody is looking at him, but nobody asks what he wants. That's the tragedy of strong people..
Jeweica Hecht as Colleen (one of bank employees) shows that inside a dry and cynical person there might be somebody kind and emotional.. who wants to be loved but builds high walls out of fear of feelings..
So much to share about this show - come and watch!
